I am not wild about school ratings, anywhere in this country. I just don't trust them. And the school (not yours, I'm talking in generalizations throughout the US) could be in a bad area, where there is no parental involvement for most of the students, so the scores are low. Could be some of the best teachers, though.
Our daughter went to Rayma C. Page, when it first opened. First of all, it was major chaos, the principal looked like she didn't have a clue what to do, and the teacher was very young and thrown into a class where half the kids only spoke Spanish. Our daughter was bringing home ALL her classwork. Not once, in six weeks, did I see classwork that was done at school.
It was a mess.
I wouldn't totally freak out about the scores.
Also, you wouldn't believe how many parents buy houses without even checking out the schools. It seems like it's especially in Florida where they are blinded by the sunshine and assume that the school will be just as good as up north, or not that bad.
Rayma C. Page could have improved a lot in four years. I sure hope so.
