Question Relocation Questions

Hi all!

I am a teacher in Central Florida that has been looking for new employment all summer. I am originally from the Clermont area, which is NW Central Florida.

I have been offerred 3 jobs!!! Hooray One is in Osceola County, one in Manatee County, and recently in Collier County. The one is Collier County is at Parkside Elementary and a wonderful opportunity.

My job search has been geared towards the higher paying counties with great benefits. Collier fit the description What I need to know is where is a good place to move to. I have a 10th grader and 6th grader, so schools are most important. I would like to be somewhere safe. Crime is outrageous in Central Florida so I hope to be somewhere better.

Thanks for you help

Parkside! Wow, I have respect for you already.

Glad you got a job. I thought there was a freeze with talks of layoffs.

If you have an SO that works it would be helpful to know where. The commute can be a killer.

Based on what little you posted I would look in the Lely area. I'll let others comment on the Collier schools as I don't have kids there.

District School Board of Collier County

http://www.collierschools.com/parents/docs/ZoneMaps.pdf. Parkside is number 16.

That little triangle is called Naples Manor. It is all ghetto. Parkside was built just for those kids. According to the map, no one from outside Naples Manor goes to Parkside.

Do you speak spanish fairly well?
If yes, then you will be alright, if no, then stay away from this school at all costs

What do you mean stay away? I do speak spanish fluently, but I am worried with everything I hear.

It's in the worst part of town, so the kids may be hard to teach, parents will be non- involved, probably be an overcrowded atmosphere with the worst of the teachers in the district. You may get stuck there and if your school tests poorly on the FCAT tests, they may give YOU the boot.
Keep applying in the collier school system is my advice
