Hello,
I will be moving to the Ft. Myers area in about a month, and would like to get some recommendations on where to look for a nice rental. The area where I will be working is near Edison Community College off College Parkway.
I am single and in my late 20s. I would prefer to rent a house instead of a condo, and the amount I am looking to pay per month is $1500 - $2000 furnished. I want a safe fun area that has a more younger crowd if thats even possible.
I heard decent things about south west ft. myers, but I was also noticing that Cape Coral is pretty close as well, so any recommendations in that area would be great too.

Thanks,

Eric

If your budget is between 1500-2000/month, you might want to buy a house. There are some great deals out there right now and you could buy a very nice house for that money.

So you want to spend $6000 to $8000 to stay here for 4 months? Wow! You should have no trouble renting a nice pool home in the Cape.

Consider the south east Cape coral area. At todays rental rates, you could likely set yourself up very nicely for less than your proposed target price, have good, easy, 10-20 minute access to the college. And because you're spending less than your intended rental fee, the $2.00 daily toll across the bridge, shouldnt be an issue for you.

Does the bridge have an electronic pass (EZ pass or Smart Tag)? Is is discounted for residents with accounts?

As tommy already answered. Yes. However I really didnt do a cost analysis based on a 4, or maybe 6 month residency. The costs to set up the account, purchase the transponder, buy the tolls, etc. may, or may not be cost effective for that short of a stay. Just paying the $2.00 a day might cost less over the 4 months, particularly if he doesnt need to go to the school five days a week.

I personally do not use a transponder, or discount plan, so I cannot speak to the details as to how the plans work.

I was wondering if it was worth it for 4 months too. Couldn't find an answer right away on the site.. so just posted the link. We don't even know how interested the OP is in the subject.
Never used it when I lived there.
