Default School opinions please

I've looked at Greatschools.org, but I would like all of your opinions also.

DH's new job rented a condo for us. We don't really have a say in the location, so here are schools I think would be best for us in the subzone that we will be living in for a few months.

What do you know about these schools? Good, bad, anything. Is there probably a waiting list for these?

1. Allen Park
2. Three Oaks Elementary
3. Rayma C Page

If you have any experience in dealing with these schools, please let me know.

Thanks!!!

Allen Park - YES!

Three Oaks Elementary - Good

Rayma C. Page - I hated it. HOWEVER, its rank has recently come up. I personally hated it, but my child was only there for five weeks and it was the first five weeks that the school first EVER opened. So I really, really can't judge.

Folks love Allen Park. The parents that love it I consider to be very good parents, too.

Where are you moving to? What area?

Thank you for the feedback. Do you think Allen Park and Three Oaks have a waiting list? How could I find that out?

The company is renting a place for us. I don't know exactly what the community is called, but the apartment is either on Bergamo Way or Lucca St. It is supposed to be gated. Do you know what that community is called?

We will be living in that for at least two months. It has a 2 car garage. Is that an ok place to be for the time being?

thanks!

Check that link that I gave you for the school system. It has the phone number to the school department on it.

Those are condos, I think. They are nice, I'm pretty sure. You're going to be neighbors with kroeran!

Default thanks

LOL...yay Kroeran! Maybe he can find me a good deal in Paseo. I hear it is the BEST place to live.

thanks for your input!!! Will they really tell me over the phone if there are openings in the schools? I figured they would make me do a lot of paperwork first. But I guess it is worth a shot...

I LOVE it!

Unfortunately, calling them is about the only thing that you can do.

When we called, they would not give us any information or let us enroll our children until we were here and took proof of residency (signed lease, utility bill with your name on it, etc.) into the school office. That has been a year or so ago. I have heard Allen Park is nice, but when we looked into it, it was full with a waiting list. Don't know about Three Oaks. My neighbor teaches at Raym C. Page. She says it is getting better than it used to be.......but still isn't great. (This was end of last school year that we chatted.) Good luck......if you can get into Allen Park, that would be where I would go!

My niece is in Three Oaks. My nephew went there, as did several friend's kids. It's okay. Not horrible. Not the best school in the world. A little better than average, especially for Florida schools.

If there is a waiting list, the kids aren't getting in there. That's what they told me at the Superintendent's office. That's the wonderful thing about School Choice. You really don't choose.

I still don't believe that 95 percent of parents like School Choice. I've never met one. I'm sure there are some that don't do the research and don't care, but 95 percent is just bogishly high.
