we are gathering some numbers for building a home in Cape Coral.
Looking for some actual experience in the numbers. Reccommended contractors, Architech, building options, etc.
So far we have had anywhere from $65 per sq ft to $150/sq ft.
While we know in most case its better to buy a foreclosed home, nonetheless, would like to get some first hand numbers regarding building... especially in a currently dormant construction industry.
Please share info or thoughts on this.
Thanks.

There are many variables. What is the cost of the lot? Do you need to put in septic? Are the assessments paid for water and sewer? Do you need a seawall or other lot improvements? Also consider impact fees. What will your property taxes be on a new property? You will probably find it is much cheaper to buy an existing home in today's market. Lastly, you may want to check if you are in a flood zone that will increase your insurance premiums.

Hi Thank you for your response.

We have taken into consideration the city assesments, seawall, flood zones, etc.
What we are looking for is the cost per sq ft to erect the structure to completion.
While we have targeted lots with assesments fully or partially paid, we factor in installing the septic and well for those without access to central utils.
What we keenly interested in is the cost per sq ft to build and to identify a few resources that offer the service (that is construction and architecture)

Thanks!
Sheldon
