And another thing there on average 12-15 tornados that touch down each year and we had 45 in 2011. There was a horrific tornado that stayed on the ground for 256 miles through 3 states missiouri illinois Indiana it killed 74 in Indiana and caused over 1 billion in damage
When was this? Are you talking about the Tri-State tornado that happened in the '20's? before modern forecasting and modern warnings/watches??

Most of the tornadoes that occur in the Fort Wayne area are small(ef0 or 1). They are also more common in the outlying areas rather than in Fort Wayne. This is not an area that gets strong tornadoes very often. Maybe once every 20-30 years there may be a stonger tornado. There may be stronger tornadoes in the Central and Southern part of the state but the OP was asking about the Fort Wayne area.

I have never heard anyone here refer to Indiana as 'Dixie Alley Tornado Prown"

It doesn't matter this year we had 40 tornados. And I was referring to the tri state tornado. The outbreak of 2011 could have happend here just as easy we got much of the same terrain as alabama and mississpi.

Reading this thread as a former native who grew up in Indiana. Is this a reference to the Palm Sunday torrnadoes in '65? Again, before modern forecasting. It was that outbreak that created the watch/ warning system that is now used country wide. The tracking now days is incredible. Last spring, sitting out here in Virginia I tracked online a tornado warning cell that followed went down the road not far from my childhood farm.

WTC? I have lived in southern RI, Western Ma (both on the border of Ct) all of my life. We have lots of big thunderstorms. We were devastated by a tornado and a hurricane in 2011. I don't know what this person is takling about. New England has never been known for its temperate weather...if you can deal with being snowed in for 10 days like the blizzard of 85, or with no power for 15 days at a time like what happened during the microbursts all summer in western mass, your gonna be fine anywhere else. Indiana isn't really that far away, the climate is not really that different!

Wrong Indiana isn't affected by Hurricanes we can get the leftover raid but thats nothing.
2nd we don't have Nor'easters.
3rd we don't have as much snow as the east coast but that depends if your in Central of Southern Indiana cause those areas do not get Lake Effect well the Northern Part of the state does.
4th we don't lose power in Indiana for 15 days unless your out in the middle of nowhere and theres not many places like that.
Indiana has better weather and cost of living/taxes than the Northeast
Oh and when the Snowtober came through New England it was 50 Degrees in Indiana.
