Default Move to Fort Wayne-Where should I avoid?

I am relocating to Fort Wayne for work. I am trying to find an apartment or condo. Since I am from New England and only been to Fort Wayne a couple times I need some advice on where to look and on where to avoid. And very specific. I appreciate all the help!!!

(I knew someone that lived on Old Trail Rd, by Lower Huntington Rd end. Does this area have anything that might be of interest?)

Default Well...

Fort Wayne is in NorthEAST Indiana....not NorthWEST Indiana ...But I can tell you this much: STAY AWAY from the Southeast area of Fort Wayne.

The most upscale parts of fort Wyne are southwest, northwest and northeast. Lower Huntington Road is south.

No big deal..happens all the time!

And it just reinforces many of our beliefs that FORT WAYNE needs their own sub-forum [are you listening moderator & administrator??] LOL

I completely agree with you! I always thought it was bizarre that Indiana's 2nd biggest city doesn't have it's own board.

I always wondered what that unannounced, and mysterious standard(and that I guess only certain C-D mods would know about...) is for enough threads to exist about a city, before a subforum for a city and/or metro area is created!

P.S. mods: Please move this to the regular Indiana board.

It really depends on your price range.

Definitely stay out of the southeast side of Fort Wayne.

The northwest and southwest areas are both very nice, but can also be expensive. They are more suburban areas with newer homes and better school districts.

The North Anthony and North Side areas are both nice areas too. (But I am biased, as I grew up there!)

Right now I am staying in the West Central neighborhood, and I am really enjoying that part of town. It is near downtown and is in a historic district. Some of the homes are really run-down, but others are just immaculate.

Anyway, good luck. I hope you enjoy your time in Fort Wayne!

Depending upon where you will be working, you really cant go wrong with SW, NE or NW Fort Wayne. Each are extremely close to shopping, restaurants and many other amenities. Zip codes for apartments SW are 46804 and 46814. For apartments NW, look into 46818, 46825 and 46845. Finally for apartments NE, check zip codes 46835 and 46815.

Your friend lived in the Waynedale area, which is located on the south side of Fort Wayne. Waynedale has the basic amenities, but if you want to have a wide variety of restaurants and shopping you are better off sticking with what I have suggested above.
