I'm looking for a town to relocate with my family. The affordable housing prices in Fort Wayne caught my eye. I've been searching for what "the catch" is, but I haven't found it yet. So, tell me, why are housing prices so low in Fort Wayne? What's the catch?!

We've already had another similar thread, including the "what's the catch?" line not long ago. You can read it here. Essentially, outside of Chicago, cost of living in the Midwest is pretty cheap. That's pretty much all it comes down to.

No catch at all. Nice, growing city with Midwestern values. Outlying areas of the city are growing substantially. It serves as the Regional Center for Northeast Indiana and Northwest Ohio.

Yes, it is dangerous. There is maybe 5-10% that would be considered safe. But when there are so many nicer areas in the city, why would you choose to live in the Southeast? I guess everyone has their reasons, but it wouldn't be my first choice. When the majority of their own residents don't care about the aesthetics, housing, etc., why would I care then?

There are tons of medium sized cities in Middle America with very appealing housing costs. Fort Wayne is far from unique. As far as the "catch" there's no ocean, no mountains and weather in the interior can be extreme.

The Northeast part of FW looks nice.

High crime.

No jobs.

Moving to FW was the worst mistake of our life!

There are no laws here to protect you.

7 people just murdered in 2 days!
We get it! You hate Fort Wayne! Geez. How many threads are you going to post the same thing?
