I've been looking at the Fort Wayne area (specifically Angola) in case Michigan isn't what I'm looking for. Are the summers in Angola mild like Michigan or are they hot and muggy like here in Tennessee?

I'd say they can vary. I live in FW but used to go up to the Angola lake area fairly regularly in the summer. I don't think I'd compare NE IN weather with TN though....we're farther north so it doesn't get as hot...heck I've noticed a difference between Indy and FW on days I've gone down there to visit. We do get muggy summers but we get breaks from the mugginess as well (we're currently in such a break....so nice!).

What part of Michigan? Michigan is huge north to south and areas like the UP have very different weather than areas like Detroit or even Grand Rapids. Not to mention Angola is pretty close to Michigan already. I'd say Angola is going to be a lot more like Michigan than Tennessee. But again it will be more like southern/central Michigan and less like northern Michigan.
