Huntington and Ft Wayne areas seem impossible to rent. I've looked FB, CL, realtor site.
I'm coming next week for a few days. I have a job interview and then move within 30 days. There has to be a decent safe place for a grand but I'm not finding any.

Are you looking for a house to rent or apartment? I went to apartments.com, set the max price to $1000, and found several apartments available in Fort Wayne. Huntington, being a smaller town, will have a lot less in terms of apartments. There were also 30 houses listed. For that price, it'll be hard to find a nice house but there were some that were ok. But you should have no problem finding a nice apartment for that price. To get a nicer rental home in a nicer area you're probably going to have go $1500 or more.

Yeah, southeast is an area to avoid. It's been a few years since I lived there but back then south of downtown, around Pontiac Street was an infamously rougher area. Given Pontiac Street splits the two zip codes mentioned by the previous poster, I'm guessing this hasn't changed.
