Colleges in area?- There are many- Largest is IPFW (Indiana-Purdue Ft. Wayne), IVY Tech, Indiana Tech, U of St. Francis. Taylor U. and that is just in Ft. Wayne. Surrounfding area: Tri-State (now Trine U), Manchester College & Huntington U.,

There are now 2 walmarts on the north side.. Both are in safe parts of town; most of the problems occur South East where poverty is more of a problem.

You may want to consider a degree in some sort of music technology (Ivy Tech maybe?) and work at Sweetwater. It's a class operation and has been growing well. They outline their hiring requirements on their website. Steel Dynamics is a good place to work as well. Work hard, stay out of trouble and you'll do fine. It's a good place to live. I'm not sure about your personal situation but I'd consider IPFW for a year or two and then transfer to IU-Bloomington. Whatever you do, work your tail off and have a plan.

I have lived in Fort Wayne since 1992...I LOVE it here and will never move! I live in Northwest Ft. Wayne, but have lived in Northeast Ft. Wayne for most of the time I have lived here. The schools are all good in North Ft. Wayne, for the most part. There are TONS of parks in Ft. hard too find jobs unless you will work for 6/7 dollars an hour...everyone also is saying what zip codes to live in...lol... you better have one hell of a degree in something'' now'' too live in the 46814, 04 ect area... taxes way up in those areas.... houses going for 180,000.00 on up.....really the average is around 350,000.00..... now if your a average guy like me then you will probebly will live in the 46816/ 09 or 19 area's...then you will have alot of renters too deal with,,, not saying thats bad but we all know that in most areas that have alot of rentals has alot of crime or alot of people that dont care about the homes they live in cause its not there home... sad too say but you and your family would be better off moving too new haven in. its located on the outer part of ft wayne...trust me....those that speak of 46814 area already has the world in there hands and are living good,rentals in that area are around 13 hundred a month, thats if you can find one!

I believe we have 2 or 3 community colleges in Fort Wayne. Racial Diversity varies based on where you live in Fort Wayne. I would say the southwest side (46804 and 46814) have only a little diversity. The northside near the coldwater road walmart will have more diversity, but not as you go further north towards the lima road walmart. The most diversity would have to be in areas surrounding downtown to the south and east. Fort Wayne has many parks and picnic areas.
