Fort Wayne, Indiana has the worst noise ordinance policy in the country!!!
Lived up here two and half years and tired of the freaking noise!!!!! First
of all, had problems with noisey neighbors and their pool party crap! The
party goes on way after 1:00AM in the morning! Now that it is freaking
summer time. Now I got to listen to fireworks all freaking summer!!! I don't
mind listening to fireworks one bloody night!

Now that you have to listen to this BS until around the middle of July
which sucks big time! Every year on the local tv channels. They always
talk about fireworks and firework saftey. But never inforce the noise
ordinance!!! You think some people would get tired of listening to fireworks
all summer long! The fort wayne yocals sure do love there fireworks
But I am sure there are some people who don't like listening to it all
the time.

I'll take the fireworks any day, if they'd actually enforce the noise ordinance on the loud car stereos! There is no reason on god's green earth I should have to put up with hearing some thug wanna-be's boomer from 2+ blocks away! Oh, and forget about the FWPD -- they only CLAIM to hand out tickets for it -- at $150+ & costs ($200+ more), you'd think they'd get the city out of the red with some of that.

Fort Wayne is Awful.
There are thousands of autos that have no muffler system. It averages 7 out of 10 cars in Fort WAYNE SHOULD NOT EVEN BE ON THE STREETS DUE TO THE SOUND.
Is Fort Wayne so poor, so pathetic of a city that they do nothing about this?
Think of how nice it would be to rake in 150-200.00 for every car that is breaking the law with having improper muffler?
Fort Wayne could take in a million a week, get them off the streets, or at least make the hillbillies get a muffler.
If they inforced this, people would have to repair thier autos, but they don't.
We tried to go for a walk downtown to the ballgame. My son counted 176 autos with no muffler in a 6 block walk. Thats ridiculous.
It was an awful experience, loud, disturbing, and nerve wracking.
Its not surprising that no one walks in Fort Wayne, no one visits downtown, no one wants to be outside. It's too noisey.
My family lives in Chicago, the noise there is just normal, you wont hear any cars without mufflers, unless they are visiting from Fort Wayne !!

I totally agree. Fort Wayne is awful! If anyone is thinking about moving to Fort Wayne. You might want to think twice! Unless, you don't mind noise from fireworks. The people of Fort Wayne are very repugnant when it comes to fireworks! They start shooting fireworks off. As early as June 20th threw July 9th. As late as 1:00AM in the morning. Indiana has stupidest firework law in the country. I wished the governor of Indiana would kindly make serious changes regarding fireworks next year. To many people abuse these privileges.

I have been living in Fort Wayne for 27 years and can tell you, Santefe37 you are wrong in a few areas.
First...fireworks are allowed only on certain holidays. During the 4th of July holiday residents of Fort Wayne are allowed to use fireworks June 29th -July 3rd between 5p.m. and 2 hours after dusk.
On the day before Memorial Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, the day before Labor Day and Labor Day, the hours are extended from 10 a.m. – to midnight. For New Year’s Eve, the hours are 10 a.m. Dec. 31 until 1 a.m., Jan. 1.
If anyone is breaking the law and using fireworks on days not permitted by the law and you hear them then call the police. I know for a fact they will come out to the house and take care of the problem. I have called them.
As far as the muffler problems, Mr. hates fort wayne, every town in every state has areas where the noise is awful from mufflers. And if it is that bad in your area then call the police.
No one can expect the police to take care of a noise problem if they are not aware of it. In order to help a town grow and learn the people of the town need to become involved. If that means calling the police because someone is breaking the law then do it! Dont sit there and complain about it. Where does that get you?
I love it here in Fort Wayne. And am happy to be a resident of this wonderful city

I like Fort Wayne, but the fireworks are absolutley insane. A 5-7 day period around the 4th? Why????? Why not just the evening of the 4th or what ever the official day is? I now vacation the week of July 4th so I can be out of town. Really, it is one of the few negatives about the city, but it seems to be getting worse every year.

I wholeheartedly agree. The fireworks thing is horribly obnoxious. I called the police to complain and they said they can't do anything about it because it's legal for like 8 hours a day many days a year. I guess the emergency rooms sponsor it so they can make more money off of burn and explosion victims, but the rest of us start to lose our minds after 8 hours on continous noise right next to our heads. Why don't they limit is to 1 hour a day 1 day a year?

oh, I thought it was only 8 hours a day, but I see it's actually 14 hours a day. Truly obnoxious.

Personally, when my muffler goes out I take joy in waiting as long as I can before I get a new one just to annoy my neighbors who spend countless unnecessary hours standing outside in their yards with leafblowers turned on (which should be illegal, can I call the police on them?) rather than doing the same job with a rake in 15 minutes). I guess the idea is to expose and flaunt their extreme laziness and burn as much fossil fuel as possible and make sure not to get even a minute's worth of exercise.
