I think the neighborhood on Forest Park Blvd. is beautiful. If you want city living, thats one of the places to look. Also check out Wildwood and perhaps Williams Woodland Park (Historic).

Fort Wayne is pretty spread out, the majority of it is suburbs. Forest Park is a great area for families - but no it is not West Central. Forest Park is in East State Village - 46805 zip code. West Central is 46802, look for Berry, Wayne, Jefferson, Union - these are all in West Central. It is difficult to find rentals in West Central online, because many of the homes are individually owned and rented out, you have to walk around and find phone numbers on signs. Our downtown is becoming very lively and we are gaining more culture with the Tin Caps Stadium - look for rentals right around that and you will find everything you are looking for.

I don't want to keep repeating myself, but honesty, downtown is not lively. The problem with the development downtown is that it focuses on a baseball team that is out of season for more than half of the year. The city really needs to get the Harrison project off the ground soon. I only wonder where downtown Fort Wayne would be right now if the city had voted to move the Coliseum downtown? That would be a year around venue for sporting events and could have been used with the Grand Wayne Center for larger conventions.

Yes, but you have to realize that this is a midwestern city in the rust belt. The downtown is doing pretty good. Lively? Probably not. But it is definitely getting better. It would be interesting if the coliseum would be downtown. That would for sure help but too late now.

I really think that downtown is the liveliest part of Fort Wayne and has been gaining liveliness in the past 2 years. It really has the best cluster of bars, clubs, restaurants, and the cultural district is great for a city the size of Fort Wayne. Plus, even when those places are closed there are tons of parks. Also, there is great shops, restaurants, and bars within a lazy day's walking distance down Calhoun or north on Wells, or it can be found with a very quick drive. I guess if big box stores, chain restaurants, fratty bars, and a total lack of anything interesting is people's thing, then more power to them in the NW and SW side.

Downtown also boasts one of Fort Wayne's best treasures, the Main branch of the Allen County Public Library, which is kind of the one place in the city where everyone converges. I only hope that the tax caps don't syphon funding from them when this election comes about.

These responses about downtown being "lively" are hilarious. Honestly, anyone who considers ANY part of Ft Wayne lively has never been anywhere but Ft Wayne. Up until maybe 5 yrs ago, driving through downtown could be considered depressing at best if you're looking for any type of cultural/historical feel or night life. The one area that has any sort of night time entertainment downtown is the Columbia St area, which consists of two small clubs and a bar/resturant.

As far as the clubs/bars are concerned, there isn't much cultural diversity, every spot that has anything worth going to is either geared towards college age kids or ends up gettin shut down due to lack of business.

This west central area they keep bringin up? It's a complete joke. Nothin goin on down there either. Don't get me wrong, you can have a good time a places like pierres, wriglely field bar, and maybe zambuccas ocassionally, but that's it. Don't expect to find a good neighborhood sports bar either. Someone may say Buckets, but that's sooo not a neighborhood sports bar.

All in all, Ft Wayne is a nice city to come and raise a family, but if you're lookin for anything else, especially entertainment wise, this ain't that.

I mean, we are not saying it is Chicago or Indy. Given Fort Wayne's actual population size, the city fares pretty well, especially being a rust belt city.

This is everything I wanted to say, but just couldn't come up with the words.
