Bad areas in Arlington?
We are looking to relocate to Arlington and are wondering where the bad areas are in the city. We were all over the area near the ballpark and all over South Arlington and near Grand Prarie. All of the areas we saw looked nice, clean, and safe. With that said, I'm sure a city of nearly 400,000 has some bad areas. Where are the bad areas at in Arlington that have high crime and such?
Any input is appreciated, thanks in advance!

Same. I saw literally no areas that even looked anywhere near dangerous. We didn't go too far north of the stadium but it started to look a little older and maybe a little more questionable but never did see anything we thought looked bad or dangerous. It's really great that an entire city of that size can look so good. I just find it hard to believe that it would be nice and safe all over the entire city. I'm sure there is some bad areas somewhere but luckily it doesn't look like there are many. If I had to guess it would probably be the north/northwest part that would be the bad area. I have no idea though. Like I said we were all over the area around the ballpark and I think South Arlington (all around the Parks Mall area) and didn't see anything other than really nice homes and buildings.
I loved it in Arlington, and in the D/FW area in general. It was great and I can't wait to call Arlington home. It's really nice there and you can't beat having a couple of top notch pro sports venues right in your own back yard. It really felt like it was where I'm supposed to be.

Yes, Arlington has more than its fair share of bad areas. Actually some of the best areas of the city are in the northern end. These are the more exclusive areas albeit small areas (older custom homes built on the rolling hills in trees). Arlington has plenty of problems w/ crime, kids drag racing (one gets killed at least once a week ), strip clubs, drugs, fight clubs, etc. Don't fool yourself into thinking the city is "safe" overall. Find a grocery store open 24 hours (not hard to do in Arlington) and go hang out up there at 1-3 in the morning and see. But be careful if you are out that late as your likely to find yourself in the middle of something. The DFW area has been plagued by bank robberies in recent years. At least 1-2 a day somewhere in the DFW metroplex. Sadly I'm not surprised when I see most of them happen in Arlington. Drive down Pioneer Pkwy, Cooper, etc. Drive thru the apartment complexes (there are plenty to pick from). Read the Dallas Morning News on a regular basis and you will start to see the pattern. My hubby lived in Arlington, went to school there, worked out there, etc. There are PLENTY of bad areas.

West of 360 near division is not a good area, in my opinion. It's all run-down with dilapidated factories, strip clubs and bars everywhere.

What about the area around the Mayfield Park Apartment complex off Worth Street, is that a pretty good area? The apartment complex itself seems like it is really nice and from what I can remember the area around it was nice too.
What about the Enclave @ Arlington? It's just down the street from the ballpark and new Cowboys Stadium. They seemed to be pretty nice as well.
Anyone know anything about these apartments/areas? Any help is appreciated!

I lived in Arlington for 20 yrs --
Stay on the extremes -- Extreme NORTH or Extreme South --
Personally - I like SouthWest - near the lake -
it's nicer and quiet - but there is always some crime. Housing is not really going up in Arlington - maintaining....
Good luck -

Arlington is undergoing a pretty dramatic change right now with the new stadium coming in. That has eliminated many residential areas that were not the best, nor the worst either. This will change the traffic patterns in the near future as well, so something there to consider.
You can drive any major street and see vast differences just along that main street. 360, Cooper, I 30 and I 20.
If schools are important, check greatschools.com. You can get latest school ratings, teacher's lengths of teaching in that same school, % of each ethnicity, free/reduced lunch, gifted students and proficiency in english.
We are actually looking at moving to an area with a better nighborhood school within the district we are currently in, (not arlington) and I have a target area I prefer. that is based upon using those things in combination with pricing, neighborhoods, traffic and accessibility.
