Fort Worth Wins Grant for Streetcar, But Whether It’s Ready Is Another Question « The Transport Politic

Its a nice plan , but i don't know why the feds gave FW money if they have no solid route. Maybe FW can get private $$$ for it , like some other cities.

Please excuse me for not knowing this, but where I come from we call it Tram, would that be the same thing as Streetcar?

As "Streetcar" is a very unfamiliar word for me. Normally everywhere I have been like Frankfurt or Singapore they called it Tram. I looked Streetcar up on Wikipedia to see what it's called and "Tram" came up and I know what Tram is, but to clarify- it is the same thing as streetcar right?

The terminology just has me confused that's all.

Fort Worth needs to make sure that the eastside of town has access to the street car system. That one line that runs through the eastside is not enough.

street cars and trams are probably very similar--
this is what the FTW ones are supposed to look like
I hope this comes through --it is just artist's sketch of anticipated design

Eventually it will. Right now, they're just focused on the starter system that will circle downtown and reach about a mile or half a mile to the north side (future Uptown/TRV), W 7th., and Near Southside (which will lead to Rosedale and the eastside)

It's all here in Fort Worthology.

editorial in today's FTW paper about this grant situation--don't think FTW has the money to put into the project
interesting to read how so much of this is posturing and political
