UPDATE:
My friends visited and we had a blast. We went the night Sara Evans was performing. They had a great time. The place was a bit too "smokey" for me but overall I'm glad I took them. I was surprised at the few people that were wearing their cowboys outfits which may be their every day attire.
We missed the rodeo and got there as they were wrapping up.
Christie, we did end up going to H3 and enjoyed it a lot. Thank you for bringing it up.
I couldn't rep you more than once.
I was really surprised at how lively the stockyards were. The shops closed early and that's a shame except for Maverick's cuz they have a saloon inside too. Some gentlemen cowboys took pictures with my girlfriends.

Next time you'll have to stop in Booger Red's Saloon in the Stockyard's Hotel... instead of barstools you sit on saddles (which can be tricky if you have had a couple of beers)
