Thanks, love2read!
We just made a trip to the area for 2 days, daughter at company's invitation before she makes decision, and I tagged on. We checked out Euless, Bedford, Keller, Grapevine and Richardson.
Very impressed about the magnitude of the apartment complexes! Felt comfortable in most areas we drove by and would avoid some areas in the future. People appeared friendly and drivers were not as aggressive as Bostonian in general.
Questions:
HWY 635 appeared very busy from suburb toward Dallas till around exit 20 on either direction even at non-rush hours. Is it typical?
-President George Bush Turnpike appears to have very few traffic at non-rush hours. How about during rush hours?
-I read some commented about the traffic around Grapevine. Is it because of resident volume during rush hours or combination of resident and shoppers at various time of the day? Are there specific roads to avoid?
If it is a go for her, we may check out Coppell, Carrollton, and Farmers Branch as well.
Thanks for any input.

Grapevine traffic peaks at rudh hours, but otherwise, it's really not bad. Very few people live in Grapevine when compared with the many that work here, and our highways are also a main artery to go around the north side of DFW. Unless I am patronizing the nearby restaurants, I avoid the stretch of William D. Tate between 114 and 121 just because there are a lot of accidents here.

Grapevine is a good place for a young adult. It's not necessarily a family community. (Hubby and I have no kids, so we're not into the family stuff.) The crime rate is very low, and the sense of community here is like a small town. There are two huge street festivals every year (Main Street Days and GrapeFest), a wonderful shopping mall, and almost every restaurant you could imagine. It's also a quick drive into Dallas or FW for weekend entertainment. I drive form Grapevine to NE Mall area every weekday for work, and at the VERY longest (if there is a wreck or bad weather), it takes me 30 minutes.

The GB Turnpike has relatively little traffic, even during rush hour. Most people take free roads or drive on the parallel access road.

Thanks, beowulf7. As much research as we can work on remotely, traffic is the one has to rely on locals.
