If you're looking to save money, I'd probably sway from eating at Texas DeBrazil on your first night (it's not cheap). I live right on the route that you'll be taking from the airport to your destination in FW. If you're just looking for a good, cheap bite to eat I'd suggest one of the fast food joints people were talking of earlier. At 183 and Precinct line road there is a burger king and mcdonalds; not exactly that super fantastic Italian quisine that everybody loves but you'll more than likely just be wanting a cheap, fast meal after that loooooong flight. You'll find tons of such establishments along the way from the airport. There are a lot of place in Grapevine, just after you leave the airport. Just don't eat AT the airport! Way too expensive!

Actually, thinking about it, instead of leaving DFW airport by the North exit, it would be better (quicker) to leave DFW airport by the South exit after you rent your car. It'll be quicker to your destination in FW.
You'll also be cruising along on the better part of 183 (Airport Freeway), where you'll see quite a few opportunities to eat as you head West to Fort Worth.

I live in Florida now but grew up near Fort Worth.
When I mentioned Texas Dr Brazil, I didn't mean on your first night, I meant as a nice place to eat and it is expensive...but a wonderful experience. I love eating meat so its a great place to me.
Another place you might try while your there is called Angelos, its on White Settlement Road sort of behind the court house in Fort Worth. Its a Barbeque place that has been there since before I was born and I am 40...its a little rundown looking but its the real deal for barbeque. If you go at lunch during the week, its PACKED with people from the court house, I have run into the District Attorney from Fort Worth (Tarrant County) there on more then one occasion. The man running it now is the son of the first Angelo that started the place, he is training his son to run it. The original Angelo was a hunter so he has all kinds of trophies on the wall and even a black bear stuffed...the bear has been there since I was a child, back when they had sawdust on the floor...the sawdust thing is sort of a Western kind of thing.

Actually, my suggestion to leave the Airport via the South exit (as opposed to leaving via the North exit) would take you away from the city of Grapevine. When you leave via the South exit and head to fort worth, you'll see plenty of fast food joints to stop at and grab a bite to eat.

gettin in at 930--by the time you get your car and leave the airport will be closer to 10:20--not too many restaurants will really be serving then--fast food might be the only option --in Euless there is Long John Silver south(which may close around 10) a Wendy's north, a McDonalds south, a Sonic Drive-In n on Euless Main which is about the first exit you get to coming west from the airport where there is food...
coming into Bedford--there is Whataburger s of freeway just past the 114 N ramp--McDonalds s of the freeway off Central dr. --there is a nice Texas Land and Cattle co restaurant and Pappadeaux's off the access road before central drive in Bedford and they might be open that late--a Cheddar's, and a Mexican restaurant called Lupe's and a Chili's almost across from each other on Central drive exit and I don't know if they would be open but there is movie theater in that Chili's shopping center so it might be open because of that---
Also in Bedford a Fuddrucker's hamburger place and Spring Creek BBQ off Forest Ridge Dr--a Mexican Inn s of freeway on Bedford Euless exit
If you GOOGLE MAP Bedford, Euless, Hurst you will get opportunity to click for restaurants--and can maybe get link that shows how late they are open...

^ We went to Texas Land & Cattle restaurant after I picked up family members from the airport one night. But it wasn't that late; I think we got to the restaurant a little after 9 p.m.
Also, check out the "Must eat places" thread in this sub-forum.

If you're staying in the Stockyards area I recommend the H3 Ranch Grill if you can get there soon enough.
Hunter Brothers' H3 Ranch
Says the hours are:
Mon-Thu 11am-10pm,
Fri 11am-11pm,
Sat 9am-11pm,
Sun 9am-10pm .
August 2nd is a Thursday. If your flight doesn't arrive till 8:30 It may be 10:00ish before you get to Stockyards. So that may be out of the question.
I have stayed in the Stockyards hotel and the H3 Ranch Grill is just next door. I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. I had the Mexicali Steak which is marinated in Salsa and served with two enchilada. I also ate breakfast there the next day. They may only serve breakfast on weekends but the Huevos Rancheros was great!
