What an amazing adventure! I decided to find a place in Sendera Ranch. It's only about a 20 minute drive to the college and really, 15/20 minutes to anywhere! LOL. Plus I found I'm really attracted to Northwest ISD. With the high school STEM academy and the new land they purchased for an outdoor learning classroom, I was sold! Still haven't found a house to rent, primarily because I'm still a little too far out to put in an application. I'll keep checking the MLS and Craig's List over the next couple of weeks and hopefully find a place soon. I fell in love with the DR Horton Bosque house, so I think I'll probably be buying soon, too.

My friends took me to downtown Fort Worth and we went to a dueling piano bar. Super fun! We also went to the stockyards, which is just a fantastic, historical place. After I move down there, I plan to spend an entire day soaking up that area. We just got there for the 4 PM cattle run and went into a few shops. Oh, and I bought my first cowgirl hat. :-) I thought about getting some boots, too, but I figured that might be pushing it. That will come in time.

I fell in love with Fort Worth and can't wait to get out there! Everyone is SOOOO incredibly friendly, the weather was gorgeous, but really strange the way it just shifts so suddenly. It was perfect 60 degrees up until Sunday and all of a sudden it was snowing! That was a fantastic experience for me, though. I have to drive an hour to get any snow, and then half the time the roads are closed for a day or two after the snowfall, so by the time I'm able to get to it, it's already been playing in by the locals. Seeing the ground with fresh fallen snow, watching it come down....breathtaking! And so much land!! Everywhere! The open space and big skies were amazing. I'm sure you locals get used to it, but I was taking it all in the whole time I was there. I can't say anything negative about my experience. I love your town and can't wait to get out there permanently!

It came down hard in my part of town, but none of it stuck. I'm OK with that, though. It was amazing that only a few miles could make so much difference.

Knew you would love it! Northwest is opening up an middle school in Sendera as well next year. The friendliness was one of the biggest things that we noticed as well for the move. People actually talk to you in stores...I know...so refreshing! You get so trained in California to keep you eyes down and coming out here was such a great change for all of us.

Of course, you will get the occasional sourpuss, but we call them ex-Californians or ex-New Yorkers. California will always hold a very special place in my heart, but for this girl...I am a Texan!

We, too, are in love with Fort Worth! We've been here a little over a year, live in Sendera Ranch and are having the time of our lives! It's a friendly, safe, fun place to live, and wooooo boy is it cheap! Wild horses couldn't drag me away from Texas now!

@jenyphero

Is this the piano bar you went to? I've been meaning to check it out...

Locations - Pete's Dueling Piano Bar: Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, and Las Vegas (http://www.petesduelingpianobar.com/v2/locations.php - broken link)

There is also another one downtown inside Lone Star

Yep, that's the one! There were two sets of pianists. There was a female who also played the fiddle and they did a great rendition of "Devil Went Down to Georgia". The whole place went NUTS! Super fun, I highly recommend it!
