That's what kids have done forever. That's nothing new and nothing that exists only at NE mall.

But borderline ghetto? LOL, give me a break. I'm guessing you've never been anywhere remotely near anything resembling a ghetto in your life.

No joke! NE Mall is ANYTHING but ghetto. My guess is walktall hasn't been out much.

Southlake Town Square has teens hanging out, SAHMS hanging out, window shopping, etc. It's no different than any other shopping area. I know because my teenage son and his friends hang out there at least twice a month. They pretty much go to the movies, go to Snuffers, then hang out at Barnes and Noble or by the waterfall. They aren't harming anyone, they aren't shoplifting and they aren't interested in the little old ladies that clutch their purses as they pass by. LOL If you want to avoid certain "demographics", then perhaps you should stick to online shopping. tisk tisk

By the way, has anyone noticed how big Forever 21 is in the Nordstrom wing? It is where Abercrombie was. I think it has three entrances. I also read yesterday that Abercrombie is closing 180 stores so it is not just a NE Mall problem with them. I believe they are down to 2 stores in Dallas, and one each in Fort Worth, Arlington and Frisco. Not sure if any of those are on the chopping block.

Speaking of NE Mall, I drove down Pipeline Blvd the other day from Central drive to 820...How depressing. Miles of empty storefronts. That derelict boarded up Tennis Club at Sotogrande. It used to be a thriving area.

It's all boom and bust. The population is getting older and retiring. Money is moving north. At some point distance will be too great for people to just keep moving further and further away. This area will be redeveloped and reinvent itself.

One of the worst examples is that plaza where Blockbuster Music, Barnes and Noble, and Old Navy were before they moved across the highway to the Shops at Northeast Mall. Is there anything left in that entire shopping center now?

You are completely right in your assessment, I am a real native and attended the NE mall opening with Miss Universe! It had Leonards- not Dillards and anyone not from this area wouldn't know what that means. Transplants have no history of this area and how it has been bastardized and in comparison to where they came from it might be wonderful. It was a great mall with Wicks n Sticks and all the great anchor stores, the only decent shopping now is NorthPark. SL town center will become like NE mall within 10 years. I am so over folks with have lived here 5 - 10 -15 -20 -25 years thinking they have a real understanding of this area and what should or shouldn't be.
