you should have read the comments on local papers after the rainbow incident - soooooo many hateful, bigoted nutcases in this town that preach good values but don't mind seeing a gay kid getting his head bashed in.

im not gay but i feel for those who are - this place has made progress and its not as bad as some say but there are still a LOT of crazy rednecks here who wouldnt mind seeing the gay/lesbian community strung up on trees.

If you're considering a visit to Fort Worth, make sure your hospitalization insurance is paid up because there's a good chance you'll need to make use of it. If not because of the Bible thumpin Baptist Cowboys who think homosexuality 'ain't normal', perhaps you'll have the stuffin' beat out of you by the local police. They've demonstrated quite a talent for it lately. Of course, no surprise, the local PD made up of those good ol' boys.

Stick with Austin, San Antonio or even Dallas for gay friendly environments. Fort Worth is bad news.
Holy cow! Gross generalization much? You need to read about what happened after the incident - the outcry by local Fort Worth business people and politicians; the designation by the FWPD of a gay/lesbian liaison; a request by the city for an independent federal investigation; the formation of a city-wide diversity task force; the inclusion of transgendered individuals in the city's anti-discrimination policy (Fort Worth was the first city in Texas to include sexual orientation in their anti-discrimination policy); and I hear the incident has been a business bonanza for the Rainbow Lounge. I'm gay and my partner and I have never experienced any discrimination, funny looks, or condemnation in Fort Worth. We have many gay friends in the city and we all love it. Meanwhile in "tolerant" Dallas you so tout, the pastor of the ginormous First Baptist Church, Robert Jeffress, has used his prominent pulpit to demonize gay citizens, which has made national headlines. I consider Dallas a gay friendly place, and gay-central for clubbing in North Texas, but would never judge the entire city by the beliefs of one group of "Bible thumpin' Cowboy Baptists". Meanwhile, in Fort Worth, Broadway Baptist Church was kicked out of the Southern Baptist Convention for supporting its gay members. Whoever you are, your post is as narrow minded, uninformed, and judgmental as the citizenry you so inaccurately condemn as the same.

Fort Worth is behind the times. Just take a drive through the city and you will see how backward it is.

Dallas is extremely gay friendly. Im not as sure about Ft. Worth. I wouldnt say its gay friendly or gay unfriendly. Gay people can definately exist there and not be bothered, but if you are into the clubs and the nightlife, its all Dallas (not that there arent gay clubs in Ft. Worth, just alot more in Dallas).

I have quite a few gay guy friends and they love the Dallas gay scene. They all call a certain part of Dallas the Gayborhood and let me tell you, they have the best Halloween street party I've ever been to! We just love going down there
I've never heard about a gay scene in Fort Worth so I wouldn't necessarily call it gay friendly, but I don't think you'd have people egging you in the street or anything

wow, that guy really went out of his way to tell you about the racial division. Fort Worth not very gay friendly and pretty racist. Go to Dallas, where people are less racist and less homophobic.

Did you really register just to bump this 3 1/2 year old thread with your ignorance?

I have two gay friends in Fort Worth and they love it there. They've never been bothered. And what about the gay Fort Worth city council member who recently came out in defense of gay kids across the country who have been subjected to bullying?
