I first moved to Dallas, Oak Lawn, in '69. There was no DFW, only Love Field. Even though it was a quiet neighborhood, it was largely pilots and stewardesses.

So, I moved to Houston for a while and came back to Dallas, Oak Lawn in the mid '90's (blocks from the '69 apartment). Love Field was on the wane, DFW was the airport to use.

But, going out to the local bars, Oak Lawn was still... pilots and stewardesses

Default Gay couple in Bedford

We enjoy living in Bedford. The cost of living is great and we are very close to work (DFW Airport).

Default Moving To Fort Worth

Hi there,

I will be honest, I lived in Dallas for 14 yrs and I did enjoy the nite life when I was younger and now things have changed since now I am in my early 30's. My partner and I have just recently over the past couple of months have just moved to the N.Fort Worth area and we are loving the tranquility that it has as well as the neighborhood we moved to which is great.

North Richland Hills is awesome this is were we decided to purchase our home which around the Iron Horse Country Club and people tend to accept my partner and I without any problems.

We invite the neighbors to come swimming and most of the times they all come and jump in the pool.

1. Is Fort Worth gay-friendly?

2. What areas are suitable to live in (including nearby suburbs)

3. Would it be better to live in Fort Worth, or Arlington, because of the gay-friendliness (so I would be closer to Dallas?)
I would say that Dallas is much more gay friendly than Fort Worth, but I know people who are gay and live in Fort Worth. Like a PP said, downtown Ft Worth, Camp Bowie/West side, and TCU area would be much more tolerant. The few gay people I know in Ft Worth live in the TCU area. I also think the places mentioned in Fort Worth would be more gay friendly than Arlington. Keep in mind that there are a lot of right wing conservatives here, but Texans are also a friendly group (except when they are behind the wheel of a car), so I can't imagine someone being mean to your face.

There is a huge "gay" scene in Dallas with a whole bunch of gay bars. Oak Lawn is definitely the area in Dallas if you want to be more open about it and live around other people who are gay.

HTH
