Hi all,

I've been narrowing down my list of apartment complexes and we're flying out in 3 weeks to visit.

I am going to be working at TCU and I've limited my search to 76109, 76116, and 76132.

Apartments were selected based on the following: having a 2/2 with a split bedroom plan (i.e., dual master bedrooms), pets allowed with no crazy pet rent, no crazy admin fees, and rent in our price range (under 1K).

Ideally, this is somewhere we want to stay for 6-7 years (we're just so tired of moving - have done several cross-country moves in the last 6 years and in-town moves).

If you know good or bad about the complexes, I would appreciate it. Or even anything general about the neighborhood/area. We do plan to drive around during the day and night.

Here is the list I currently have:

1. Wind Rush: 3500 Renzel Blvd

2. Hunter's Green: 5101 Overton Ridge Road

3. Coffee Creek: 6351 Hulen Bend

4. Villas of Oak Hill: 2501 Oak Hill Circle

5. Highland Park: 5836 Highland Park Drive

6. Vieux Coulee: 3301 River Park Drive

7. Coventry Apartments: 5200 Bryant Irvin Road

8. Verandas at Cityview: 7301 Oakmond Blvd

9. Riverstone Apartments: 3450 River Park Dr.

10. Avery Pointe: 5230 Bryant Irvin Rd.

11. River Park Apartments: 3309 Riveroad Court

have you looked on apartmentratings.com ? I have no idea if those ratings on that website are legitimate or not but may be worth checking out......

I did check them out....and no matter what apartment I put in (even the uber-expensive ones not on my list) they had bad ratings. People seemed to use them just to complain.....not balanced at all :-(

If people don't have opinions on the complexes, what about the neighborhoods? I want to make sure I'm not on the "edge" of a bad neighborhood or anything.

I work on Bryant Irvin, and there are a ton of apt. complexes around. I really don't know enough about any of them to differentiate. Even the names mean nothing to me, I'm sorry. And I really hate to generalize. But I will....

I think the closer you get to the mall (Hulen, Oakmont, Overton Ridge) the more likely you will be to have undesirable elements around. I would think the River Park area might be better. It is mostly surrounded by residential neighbors and not retail.

But I am really sticking my neck out where I don't know. I think you should just visit and see for yourself.

Thanks Luvs. We'll be there mid-April to visit. Hopefully after several days of driving around we'll get a bit of a sense of the neighborhoods!

I just wasn't sure if any of these stuck out as being so awful that I must avoid them!
