North Hills Prep did well and other magnets
and why should they not----all schools as far as I could tellare magnet schools vs general public schools
--went back and looked longer--
Westlake in Austin is general high school in district much like Southlake Carroll so guess there could be other public schools from open districts
but Coral Reef in FL for example is magnet school within a larger FL district
while Magnet schools might be open to all since they are public schools--they have strict standards that students and parents must agree to abide by and they enforce those standards--they have smaller enrollments as well--most students who go there are serious about academics and have capacity to do above avg work and their parents are probably very supportive as well--
many of the schools do not take students with learning disabilities either

while it is certainly OK to take pride in a top ranking--these schools are already ranked above average
this is not comparing speed trials for a Ferrarri vs a Honda Civic

Keep looking - there are plenty of general public schools on the list. For instance, Paschal High School in Fort Worth is ranked #39.

All of the schools on the list are public schools, charter, magnet, etc.

None of the schools on the list can legally turn away anyone with a disability.

Try not to rain on our parade please - can't I make one Westlake post without you jumping on and being negative. If we care about children and education, why not celebrate their accomplishments?

GO WESTLAKE ACADEMY!!!!!!
