Default What is the area of Ft Worth like around Eagle Mountain Lake?

I found a SFH in an area of Ft Worth that is very close to Eagle Mountain Lake. It is within the Ft Worth city limits, and the neighborhood has a very suburb-like appearance. The house is perfect and within my budget. What is this area like, good or bad, and how is the Lake there?

Thanks!

Eagle Mtn does not have such great infrastructure around it--roads are usually two lanes and have lot of traffic on weekends--open bar ditches--hard to pass in many places

not lot of shopping out there--Google that address and then do grocery store or Target and see where they are
they are building along Jacksboro Hwy

you also need to check for issues like fire dept coverage which can effect your home insurance costs

we looked at houses at there when we were looking--we lived the trees that some areas of the lake had--
at that time there was heavy drought going on and the lake was low--like LOW--many people with lakeside lots were not able to use their docks to put their boats in or get out of the lake at their dock and it had been that way for several years--
think our rain in past few years has helped the lake regain water and it might look pretty good now--but it is not a constant level lake and is also a source of water for FTW/Tarrant county so as growth continues it is possible the drawdown on lake could be worse too

we looked at homes in The Resort on Eagle Mtn Lake and also at developments called The Orchards--which at that time did not have access to the lake--the development was supposed to be constructing a dock/marina area for homeowners to use--
besides the isolated location (would have been long commute to downtown FTW for my husband on some not-so-good roads) that HOA allowed people to park their RV/power toys outside the fence where they were visible to anyone--I just check the website for Avondale Bldgs which is Sterling homes and it says that stuff not has to be parked in garage--so guess they tightened up the rules since we were looking

We did not want to spend 500K for house and see a neighbors jet ski on a trailer from the breakfast window
Looked at Lake Country but just did not see anything we liked before we decided it was too far out...

that school district I would not rank as well as Keller/GCISD/Southlake or even HEB and Birdville--
check their history of National Merit semifinalists--maybe one a year

Ok, thanks for the info! The home would actually be for my parents, who are retired and looking to get a house in TX within their budget (under $200k). They actually want something outside Austin, close to my brother, but down there, it is hard to find something that is in that price range that isnt an old junky poorly-kept 40 year old house.

there are plenty of posters here who would say that it would be hard to get anything in nice area for under 200 that would not be a tract home with poor construction--

if you are looking for retired couple who would not be making a commute into Fort Worth and they like country living then it might work for them
there just isn't a hospital that is close -- the one around Solana/Trophy Club off 114 is probably the closest

Our neighborhors' retired parents moved over to the Eagle mtn lake area a few years ago. They seem to really like it. Drive around the neighobrhoods...there are some very nice well kept ones and then some shabby areas as well.

Yep, there is a little bit of new development over there on the east side of the lake off of Boat Club mixed in with some old construction as well. Some big trees and nice areas, you just have to drive around.

I commuted frequently up towards the Azle area on a weekly basis. With the road construction of Hwy 199.
The Department of Transportation is getting ready for some future growth and neighborhood development activity North of the 820 loop to Azle.
There are some gated communities which have opened throughout the past number of years.
There is a doctors facility between Lake Worth and Azle as well as your usual every day shopping needs facilities.
I am sure you may find the amenities that you or your parents are requiring within a 20 mile limit.
Good Luck

Have you looked in the Lake Country subdivision? Under 200K would get you a beautiful house in Lake Country on a nice sized lot, or some of the other areas in the Eagle Mountain area. We're close to Lake Country and we always see people riding bikes and walking the neighborhood in the evening and during the weekends. Seems to be a very nice area. My grandparents lived in a condo on the lake and enjoyed it quite a bit...they'd walk out their front door and walk to the lake to go fishing.

The commute wasn't bad at all, with Boat Club Road turning into several lanes once you get past Bailey Boswell. With them looking at this area for retirement, I'm assuming commuting wouldn't be an issue though. The hospitals we have used are in downtown Fort Worth, so if they're wanting to be close to a hospital, that could be an issue. Boat Club Road is full of doctor offices, but emergency services (besides the small ER buildings that have limited hours) would be a drive into Fort Worth.

Shopping and restaurants would be found in the Lake Worth area or Saginaw, although the area off of Boat Club seems to be growing slowly, I've even heard of a Kroger going in at the corner of Boat Club and Bailey Boswell. You'll find a few restaurants off of Boat Club Road that seem to be pretty popular and packed in the evenings. Need a good "mom and pop" breakfast place? Try JR's in Saginaw...been going there since I was a little girl.

I love this area. Seems like the best of both worlds, in our opinion...away from most of the hustle and bustle of a large city, but driving distance to those stores and restaurants. When we retire, the Eagle Mountain area is our target location
