Default Apartment recommendations in Granbury?

Hi all,

I'm starting a job in Stephenville pretty soon and starting my apartment hunt next week. I've been told that I probably don't want to actually live in Stephenville (single 22yo from DC...) and have been recommended Granbury as a happy medium. I don't mind a bit of a commute as I'd rather be happy with the area that I live in.

I'm hoping I can get some people that are familiar with the area to point me in the direction of some apartment complexes and areas to look at. I'm done with college, so I would like to put the loud, trashy apartment complex days behind me; but on the flip side, I spent the last year living underneath little children and I will take loud parties on all sides of me over screaming kids any day of the week. Does anybody know of any complexes that are geared more toward the young professional type? I don't really know anything about the area so I don't know if there really even is that kind of community in Granbury.

Ideally I'd be in Fort Worth, but I honestly don't know about doing that kind of commute to Stephenville every day. But, that's still an option. Any ideas?

Thanks!!

I'm from Stephenville. There isn't much difference between Stephenville and Granbury. Granbury has a lake, Stephenville has a college but neither have much to do.

Oh, okay. Since you're from Stephenville, do you know of any nicer apartment complexes around that area?

unfortunatly, no. I believe the newer ones are for college student only. You can rent houses fairly cheap. A commute from Fort Worth to Stephenville daily isn't terrible. My dad does it. It's basically equivalent to sitting through 45 minutes worth of traffic.

Seriously? That's great news then. I had guessed from the map that that commute was pretty gruesome. I'll start looking at Fort Worth. Thanks!

It's pretty smooth sailing. I'd check in the Hulen area of Fort Worth.

it's a good 55 miles to Benbrook from the Ville. Depending on how much you are making and what type of vehicle you have, gas prices could really eat into your disposable income. I'd probably try to find something in Granbury you like just to split the distance between work and the fun Ft. Worth can offer.

I agree. The drive from FW to Sville isn't tough at all, just long. Normally, I would encourage you to live in FW, but with gas prices the way they are....ugh. However, I'm not sure you'd find too many young, single professionals in Granbury. I'm not sure you'd find too many young people at all there.

FW is where you want to be....just decide if you can afford the gas because the drive itself won't be bad.

That is a tough decision. Let's just say you live on I-20 and Hulen, the southwest side of FW, you are still going to be driving about 60 miles each way (depending on where in Stephenville your job is), so about an hour. That is a long drive and ALOT of gas. Granbury literally cuts that time in half, about 30 minutes and about 30 miles. The one plus is that you will be going opposite of traffic if you live in FW..however, traffic can be bad on 377 in Granbury...there are alot of lights so I would take that into consideration also. I would probably try to find something in Granbury so you are half way between FW and work. The beauty about renting is that if you decide you don't like it, you can always move. It all depends on what is more important to you.

FWIW, I live near Granbury, about 42 miles from I-20 and Hulen in FW and sometimes it takes me 35 minutes to get to FW and sometimes it takes over an hour...it just depends.
