I would appreciate some tips on desirable places to live mid-way between Plano and Ft. Worth. If there are suggestions for exemplary neighborhoods that are not exactly mid-way, I would also be interested in those suggestions.

I'd go w/ Grapevine. Are your commutes to FTW and Plano and your trying to split the difference? If you go over to the Dallas thread and use the search feature and put in Grapevine you can find everything that has been posted about it. Next up I'd check on Coppell.

What are you looking for in an area to live? I would personally stay towards Fort Worh. The closer to Plano the more money and snobby you're talking. Grapevine is full of traffic congestion and is the only city with resturaunts and malls for several miles, so it's busy and a pain to go out to eat, or see a movie or shop...

Frisco has nice neighborhoods if you don't mind traffic and big boulevards
Mckinney is not a bad place
Grapevine, Coppel, Flowermound, Lewisville are all nice with a bit of traffic
North Richland Hills is nice
Keller-Southlake have exemplary neighborhoods
Colleyville is pricey but still a better value than Plano-North Dallas (My opinion)

Grapevine/Southlake/Colleyville/Keller/North Richland Hills are all convenient and nice. Anywhere around DFW airport is clsoe but all are going to be a bit congested. I do agree that Grapevine has gotten very congested lately but it is a very nice place to live.
Flower Mound is a great neighborhood, excellent schools. It is newer so not terribly congested yet and there are lots of road choices leading in every direction.

Huh? I've lived in Grapevine for 5 years, and while traffic canbe heavy at peask rush hours, it is really not bad on weekends and in the evenings. We are out and about quite a bit and we are never sitting in gridlock traffic (unless it's 5:30 PM)!
Grapevine is the obvious choice since it is neatly halfway between the two cities and is easily accessible to both of them. Geographically, yes, Flower Mound looks good, but it is so logistically difficult to get in/out of that town due to few roads that I really can't recommend it for someone trying to get to Plano and Fort Worth every day!
