Lake Granbury??? Other lakes?? (Dallas, Austin: condos, hotels, townhomes)

Hi, there!
I recently took my kids to visit my aunt who lives in a golf course community in Granbury. We really loved the area and may consider buying a second home (weekend get-away from Dallas) on Lake Granbury. Possibly a single family home, but more likely a less maintneance townhome or condo. Can anyone tell me more about the actual lake? How big is it? I know you can water ski on it, but is it a good water skiing lake? Does anyone know what type of bottom Lake Granbury has -- i.e. sand or rock?? Is it a fairly clean/clear lake?
Of course, we will spend a lot more time there before deciding to buy anything, but I loved the feel of the place. Any insight would be great!

If you do not recommend Lake Granbury, which other lakes would you recommend? We'd love to find a place for less than $250k (a small condo would even work -- we'd spend most of our time outside!) on a nice, clean lake that is 2 hours or less from Dallas. (I asked about this in another thread months ago, but we are now getting serious about looking, so I'd love to hear what everyone has to say!). We're considering a condo on Lake Travis in Austin, but I would really love a place a bit closer.

Hi, I live on Lake Granbury. Here are some links that might be helpful. The lake is a little over 30 miles long. It is one of the few lakes in Texas that stay at a constant level (there is a dam that controls the water levels). There are lots of condos/townhomes around the lake and in your price range you should have no trouble finding one. Lots of people own second homes here. People water ski and everything else you can imagine on this lake. There are stumps in our lake and a good lake map will show you where they are. I Personally Like Lake Whitney, It's Not Too Far From Blum Texas. It's Beautiful, And During The Summer You Can Cliff Dive, And Climb Back Up, It's Awesome. I Can't Wait To Go Back.
