Can I get honest opinions on the town of Aledo and non-white population and how they fit it. I am thinking of moving there but when doing the research noticed the schools and city are 91% white. I want my middle school and elementary aged kids ti get a good education. I grew up in an all white neighbourhood and it was okay.
Not sure of the times nowadays............ honest opinions please. We are East Indian. |

I honestly cannot answer that question for you sarabjit. If the thread stays alive long enough perhaps someone from Aledo in the know could step in and offer their opinion. My guess is that it would be just fine, meaning that you're kids would be treated just like everyone else. However, since I don't know anyone there, I would never try and offer any insight on something I know nothing about.
I understand your concern; you are only doing what any responsible parent would do - looking out for the welfare of their kids. I know in the school my daughter goes to (Bedford Junior High) there is absolutely no problem with things like that. You would be wise to visit the school in person and check it out. Good luck. |

I have lived in Aledo now for two years, and this was a concern for me too Sarabjit, as my son is of "mixed" parentage (his father is from Egypt, I am an Anglo American). I have not seen any type of discrimination against my son or the friends he plays with who are not fully Anglo, nor has my son. Several of the children he plays with are of mixed parentage; part Vietnamese, part Black, part Hispanic. There are few children here with both parents being "non-anglo" though, Most have either two white parents or one white and one non white. The schools are excellent ! Although I can't speak for all of the neighborhoods in Aledo, the one I live in is friendly and the people are non judgemental. I hope this helps ! Sharil
