Everman is a different area with different issues, not sure that I agree with the guilt by association portion of that. There may well be some old run down houses in certain parts of Crowley, but I suspect it wouldn't be difficult for a newcomer to avoid those once they set their price range. All I've seen of Crowley is new homes being built in a price range that clearly excludes some of the trouble you might be concerned about.

Yes, Everman is a different story. My friends live in a $350,000+ home in an area of similar priced homes with club and pool in Crowley. I don't think you are going to find those problems there.

I don't think you will find many moving from Everman into the Crowley area that I am talking about. Can't afford it. Sorry.
Good grief, you want run down areas, go to Ft. Worth, just two or three miles north of Crowley. Or go a few blocks west of there to mansions. It is all relative. Or move to Houston, with NO zoning laws. You can build a service station next to a mansion if you can afford the lot. |

I'm looking at houses that are around 120K. Would there be problems in that price range?

I do agree that Crowley has some properties of far greater value than neighboring Everman. However that will not and is not going to keep those problems from migrating across I-35 into Crowley ISD. I just recieved word today of some things going on at N. Crowley HS. I do know that they have had a bomb threat in the last week that kept the students out of classes for several hours. I also know that they are not allowed to have pep rallies at the school due to an incident where a teacher was trampled during a rally. I also know that there are ongoing, serious race conflicts in that school. There are lower priced properties within the Crowley ISD and that will allow people of lesser means to move in. Your children will attend school with these kids from wherever they come just like any other school district.

Depending upon the size of home you're looking for, you can find nice, brand new homes in the area at that price range.

Bomb threats? that's a regular occurence in schools now. Plus doors on the restrooms in even the best areas of Ft. Worth being taken off the hinges, because of problems there. I can vouch for that in the upscale school where my grandson graduated from. Life in the public school system in the US is not pretty now. That's why approximately 10 percent of the students in the US are now in private schools according to reports for 2004 and 2005.

Since you mentioned Sycamore School Rd, it may be of some interest to those interested in moving to this area that all of the section 8 and government housing (projects) that were previously in downtown Fort Worth have moved and are now located at the Sycamore School Rd / Crowley Road intersection. And all of the children living in these apts are attending Crowley schools. This is why we got out! Crime in schools is drastically rising and crime in the city as well. I have several friends in law enforcement that deal with crowley on a daily basis and they have all told me before we moved that it was going to get worse and if we could get out to do so.

Thanks goodness that I moved back to East Texas about 15 years ago then. The Hallmark area was once one of the places to be in Ft. Worth when I moved there. I went by my old house recently and Whoa. I'll just say I got out just in time. But I made over $70,000 on my house. Can you believe, I bought it new in '68 for $21,000. 2100 square feet, 3BR brick with fenced yard, 2 baths, fire place, 2 car garage, and a glassed in patio. That won't happen again.

I recently moved from Weatherford to Ft Worth. My son is in 8th grade and has never had problems in school. In the first week at Crowley he was jumped at the bus stop by 3 boys. Crowley seems to be a pretty rough school and while there are beautiful homes in the area the diversity is extreme. I wish I had never moved my son to this school.
From what I am gathering most of the kids in the newer homes are being sent to private schools to avoid CISD. |
