Crowley TX question
Is this a good area to live in? I'm looking at a house that's in Fort Worth but has Crowley ISD. Is Crowley ISD a good school district? Is this a safe neighborhood?

I don't know about all of Crowley, but I know there has been a ton of new construction of nice homes out there. I'm sure those areas are safe, but I can't say anything about the town as a whole, though I know I don't ever hear anything on the news about a bunch of crime out there. I presume it's your typical small-ish town turned suburb, much like is happening all too frequently around here. I don't know anything at all about the schools, but considering the growth out that way, I wouldn't think the schools are bad.

I have friends who's children attend Crowley, and they love it there. Very nice town, as well. All the conviences of a big town close by, but not all the hassle.

I see a lot of new construction in Fort Worth city limits with Crowley ISD. Is this a good area too?
I ask because here in Toledo OH, I could be in an area with million dollar homes and drive five miles in one direction and be in the middle of run-down houses.

We used to live in Crowley and our daughter attended Crowley schools. The problems became so bad that we moved out and moved school districts. Crowley was a nice place to live 10-20 years ago, but not anymore. I wouldnt reccommend Crowley to anyone.

texasboy. Crowley bad??? I lived in Ft. Worth city limits but Crowley school district for years and loved it. I have many friends in the area of beautiful homes in Crowley and they love it. Sorry for your problem but all I know of Crowley and their schools is good. I don't know the nature of your problem but the latest results for the Crowley Texas school system by state rating is excellent:
In 2004-2005 this district was acknowledged by the Texas Education Agency for the following indicator(s):
* Recommended High School Program/Distinguished Achievement Program

As a life long Texas resident, and all of that time was spent in the crowley area I can honestly say that Crowley has changed, and changed for the worse. Crime has been on the increase every year due to the growth and how Fort Worth has grown toward Crowley. The older neighberhoods are becoming run down and there are several abanded and condemened houses in those. Our old house was included in one of those areas and we got out and sold before property values were affected. I am not saying that the area is a bad area, there are worse places you could live. But I am saying that if I had the choice of areas to live and schools to put my children in, Crowley would be a long way down on that list. And dont use the old demographics to see what the town is like, they have changed drastically in the past 3 years.

I'm not using old demographics. My friends live in a beautiful area of Crowley with large homes as we speak. I just visited them a couple of weeks ago and they love Crowley and the school system. Yes, I lived just off Sycamore School Road in the Hallmark area and the area is not what it used to be (zoned for all cedar shingle roofs, community pool and little league teams at one time), but what 35+ year old area is not? When I moved there in 1968, Sycamore School Road was a two lane oil road with nothing south of it. There was no bridge at the creek at Sycamore Park, just a low water crossing. Hallmark was new. Time changes everything.

New guy here. As has already been said, be careful, Crowley is changing. A neighboring school district, Everman, received an accademically unacceptable rating this year and there is a lot of finger pointing going on over there. I would expect to see many people moving out and bringing some problems with them to the next district over.
