Hello everyone .. I am moving to Arlington in August and would like to have your opinion about housing. I have read almost all of the threads about people moving to Arlington. I have learned a lot from them but still need some specific information, as some of the other threads are old and others don't apply to my case.

I'm a 29-male starting grad school this coming Fall at UTA. I'm looking for a safe, very nice neighborhood in terms of residents and shopping areas with restaurants and entertainments. I prefer a quite area as I will spend a lot of time reading and studying (no college students partying every night). I'm looking for a one-bedroom and can pay for up to $800 if it is worth it. I will go to school almost everyday and don't mind a 15-20 min commute.

I'm confused about the best areas of Arlington, some people recommend the North as a more safe area that is close to the Cowboys Stadium and the Rangers Ballpark and the surrounding areas. Other people recommend the South because it is newer and more upscale. I have found the following Complexes so far and they all received different positive reviews:

North:
The Oaks of Arlington
Landmark at Heritage Fields

South:
The Franciscan of Arlington
The Providence in the Park

I would really appreciate it if you guys can recommend one of those or any other building that fits the aforementioned criteria. It is also helpful if you could tell me the reasons behind your recommendation, as I might reconsider some factors depends on your valuable advice.

the only comment I would say is that living close to either stadium in the north section around Lincoln Sq means that traffic is going to be heavy on any game day--and baseball plays during the week as well as weekends--even if they are out of town for travel at times
the weekends when you are more likely to have free time to eat out and entertain yourself will be more busy/congested with people doing just that as part of the throng going to games...
if you really want an area that is quiet then the north seems counterintuitive
BUT there is no way to tell what kind of neighbors you will have in any apt complex and that is really the issue you might face...
noisy neighbors who either fight or party, play loud tv or music, and disturb your study...

you want to find an apt complex that has thicker walls/good insulation...no matter the area

Thank you loves2read ..
It's true that I can't know what kind of neighbors I will get, but sometimes you can tell if a complex is full of undergraduate students especially if close to the campus, sometimes a highly upscale complex might suggest people with high income or maybe retired. Also, from what I read in reviews about those complexes, it seems that almost all of them have thin walls

Appreciate your inputs and would love to read more comments and advices ..

Yeah, stay away from areas in North East Arlington (stadium, ballpark, six flags). The apartments about a mile West of UTA are probably the noisiest because it's close to Greek Row. In fact, there's supposed to be a huge party this Aug or Sept in one of the UTA-linked apt complexes.

Anywhere else is fine as long as the walls are thick and your neighbors are considerate, as said before. However, North Arlington near River Legacy and such is quieter, and it's only a 5 minute drive to UTA.

Thanks ImYourRider ..

Looks like you recommend the south, right?.. I just hope it's safer than North. The complexes in the South are more expensive than the ones up North. That indicated something to me from the beginning but since I'm not from Arlington, I didn't know exactly what to decide based on that. I don't mind paying more if the area is safe, quite and classier.

Yeah, I like Southwest Arlington, as well. I wouldn't recomend South Arlington however, because even though it looks close to UTA, traffic and stoplights make the drive seem to go on forever. It's super crowded south of the 20, too.

My parents and i live in the north side its not as bad as people think it is and our house is really close to uta also we live next to girls who go to uta it can actually be pretty fun.its quiet most of the time because there are alot of retired old people. we are gonna be moving but our house is going up for sale soon so i could pm u the info when it goes up if u want! it is only about a 15 mins or less commute to uta so YEAH i would recommend the north side.
