My husband just got a job in downtown Fort Worth, and we have family in Arlington. We'd like to live somewhere between the two (East Fort Worth or Southwest Arlington). Does anyone know anything about these areas being safe or not? I am a stay-at-home mom with two very young children, so safety is the #1 concern by far-and-away. Schools are not on our radar right now, but I want a place where the parks are safe and I can push the stroller around the block without fear.

Are there any family-friendly, safe areas in east Fort Worth or southwest Arlington? Specifically, we were looking at the Cookes Meadows area which is off I-30. Is anyone familiar with this area??

**We're looking to rent a 2 or 3 bedroom apt, townhome, condo, or house for no more than $1200 / month.**

The areas off Cooks lane are a mixed bunch. I think the apartments your referring to off Cooks & 30 don't usually have problems. Southwest Arlington (on the east side of the lake) are very nice neighborhoods. You shouldn't have a problem with that area.
