We are relocating to Fort Worth and want to rent for a year or so to figure out where to live. We have been having problems finding a rental. People seldom return my phone calls and when they do, don't want our application due to our 2 dogs. Where is the best place to find rental listings? Is there such a thing as a "rental agent" whom I could contact and "pre-qualify" to help us look for a rental? We have little time to find a place.

I will be working in downtown Fort Worth part time and my husband is already working at I-35W and I-20. We have a 3 year old and a new baby on the way, plus the 2 dogs. We want to live in a safe neighborhood where we can put our 3-year old in good daycare/possibly Montessori school (she was in Montessori where we were living before) but it doesn't have to be our "forever neighborhood" since we just need a place to stay for about a year while we look things over and figure out where we want to buy a house.

Any suggestions?

I have not seen any rental/lease signs around my neighborhood for a while.

1.)
You may want to check out the classified ads in the newspaper, craigslist, thrifty-nickel, greensheet
or any other type of free periodical that has rental listings.

2.)
Some listings do not make the classifieds, perhaps just driving by an older neighborhood may have a
rental home with the sign out in front of it.

3.)
Check with a real estate agent or real estate management company, some people have rentals
on the MLS. The also may chose to have a management company handle the landlord duties.

Default Are you looking for an apartment or house?

I just rented a short term apartment for my family of 6 and two dogs-albeit smaller dogs-we had to put a deposit down for the dogs but it was fairly easy-I just searched the internet to find an apartment complex in the area we wanted and then found out if they take pets or not and went from there-we looked in North Texas-primarily tarrant and denton counties

There is a Montessori school in downtown Fort Worth called Sundance Square Montessori. Our kids go there and have been impressed, my son is heading into kinder this fall and is well prepared.

Most real esate agent also do rental properties, just call an agent in the area of town you are interested in and see what they can find you.
