For those who lived in Arlington Pre 2001, you know EXACTLY what I am talking about, especially if you worked downtown, there was a "joint" on the corner of Mesquite (?) and Division that served the best DAMN burgers I ever had. There were practically lines out the door, only a few booths, and a patio outside. Everything was fresh, and they won Best Burger several years in a row.

I moved to far SW Ftw in 2001 and returned in 2003-2004 with my mouth watering the entire way, only to find another mini mall (like we need another one) in its place. I know I am probably bringing back up an old string, but my partner and I were just discussing "joints" and this was another one that is now gone forever. We were able to find a decent substitute when passing thru Tulsa, there was the original location of Ron's Burgers (15th and Harvard, in between I-244 and the Broken Arrow Expressway). Sadly on my last trip thru Tulsa I found it boarded up to.

Anyone have any idea how I could either find the Asian couple who used to run it, or has someone found it online? Not wanting to start a :joint: Just want to make my friends and family what I still consider to this day, the best damn burger in the US!!!!

Signed

Hungry (MOOOOOO!)

I don't have anything to offer in the way of help for your question, but that was an outstanding burger. I worked in North Arlington in the mid-90's and had lunch there a few times. Not anything fancy, but just good. One of my most memorable trips there was a day when there was snow on the ground. It was still crowded, so we nearly froze to death eating outside. A buddy of mine swore that the owners had dogs roaming around in the kitchen. Not exactly the cleanest looking joint in the world, but that added to the charm.

My friend and I drove from our office in North Grapevine, then North Irving / Las Colinas once a week from the time he introduced me to Jim's in 1999 to the day they closed in September 2005. I had my share of doubles when I was still in my 20s, and we often followed up the burgers with a chocolate shake at the old Braum's on New York Avenue on the way back to the office. I remember tossing a football around in the "backyard" while waiting on the busy days.

As far as replacements, the Burger Island (old LJ Silvers) on Story north of 183 in Irving is as close as I have found...good size burgers, fries, and some kind of seasoning that makes the burgers unique. I've also found that a good shot of salt and white pepper on my burgers at home gets them as close to Jim's as is possible without picking up the fry basket and dragging it over that seasoned grill...lol.

When I think about it, I can still taste that taste...along with the thick strips of grilled onion and cheese so hot it's liquid....seven years later, after an exhaustive search, it is still the best burger I have ever had. Mmmmm....

I'm not an Arlington person, but I thought I had heard of all the good burger joints in the area, and that one escapes me. However, I do have some good friends who might be able to help you. Let me do a little checking...

I think the Burger Bar in Cleburne will fit the bill for you if you're ever out that way around lunchtime and in the mood for a good burger. I've eaten there and so straight from the horse's mouth, the burgers ARE GOOD. Here's a couple of links for it:

I'm sorry, I struck out with my friends. Wish I could help. Try the Burger Bar in Cleburne like the other poster said. In FW, you might like Charley's on Trail Lake.
