OK, so who up for the new sky screamer ride?

They claim they let you down easy and if so, it might not be so bad. That would be my main issue, 400' in the air and then plummeting back down to end the ride! My stomach couldn't hack that for sure!

We're going to 6 flags in july but I'm worried about the high temperatures. I will have a 10 month old, 5, 7 and 15 y/o. Has anyone ever been in july before?

It will be hot and humid and they price gouge on drinks.

We use to always get season passes every year, so went throughout the year. If you have a choice of the day of the week to go, try for Wednesday as it doesn't seem to be as crowded that day. If not, any weekday is better than week-ends of course.

Get there early and be in line before the gates open. We always hit the high profile rides first as the later it gets in the day, the longer the lines get.

You should be fine in regards to the heat. In the hottest part of the day, we'd take a break from the rides and enjoy the A/C in one of the shows. The park has mist blowing on you as you stand in line as well. The Cave ride is always a good ride to cool off in. The water rides are also good for the hottest part of the day.

You can stop at any concession stand and get a free cup of ice water or just ice. You can also buy the refillable cup and I think refills are like 50 cents. We had them, but most of the time we wouldn't take them with us because we didn't want to keep up with them. But if you have a stroller, you could just put it in there and if y'all didn't mind sharing, one cup would work. Although they won't let you bring food or drinks into the park, I believe there is an exception with the very young children. I have seen strollers with a small ice chest in them and people getting a drink or snack out the the baby. Things change all the time, so check with the park.

You can bring your own picnic lunch and take a nice rest in the area designed for this right outside the park. There are lots of trees, a creek runs through it and almost always a breeze. We would try and park close to this area so it wasn't far to go get our ice chest. Sometimes we'd leave the park and walk over to Cheddar's and eat lunch with lots of ice tea and that's a good way to take a break from the mid-day heat as well, just make you you get stamped when you walk out of the park if you're planning on re-entering.

Have a good time!

If there is any way to go without taking the 10 month old I highly recommend it. The rest of your family will have a far better time than with one that age in tow.

However, if you have no choice, then in July, the only way to make it through the day with such a little one is to plan on these things:
1. One parent taking on the task of baby care while the others go off and do things together for extended periods of time. That way the baby can be kept cool, occupied, fed, diapered etc without holding up the entire family. Parent's can trade off times, to allow the other one to ride with the other kids.

2. Arrive at opening and plan to stay the entire day. Doing this will allow you to take your time to do all that you want and have plenty of time do the things you need to do to beat the heat -see shows in the A/C, leave the park for lunch and baby's nap, ride the rides that will let you cool off. Afternoons from 1-5 are killer in the heat. Before and after that are fairly easy to deal with.

3. Plan on getting wet. A lot. Any ride that gets you soaked is a blessing during the hottest days. If you plan on taking cell phones, make sure you have some way to keep them from getting wet. Waterproof bag or even ziploc bags will work just fine.

4. Stop for hydrating as often as possible. Water is better for you and you can buy one of the refillable bottles and refill it at water fountains often. However, sometimes the ice cold coke can taste the best. :-)

5. Wear shoes that are well broken in, that you don't care will get wet and filthy and won't come off during any ride where your feet are not planted firmly on the floor. If you have someone who complains often about shoes, maybe take a back up pair in the car that can be retrieved if necessary.

6. For heads....those who like to wear hats should do so, just remember to tuck them away while on rides. Those with longer hair may want to take extra holders to tie their hair back after awhile. Also, don't forget sunscreen, especially for baby.

7. Get a map, locate bathrooms, especially those with changing facilities, as soon as you arrive. Make an agreement as to where you will meet and approximately when if you do go separate ways. Be prepared to wait for others though since you never know how long a line will actually take.

Good luck, have a blast!
