I live in North Hurst and have lived here pretty much all my life with the exception of a few too many years in college. It's a nice place to grow up and still has well maintained neighborhoods. Many families have been around for 20-30 years or more and I've noticed some younger families moving in and renovating -- both good signs for the area. Very little room to build, but there are a lot of nice homes. Chisholm Trail Estates off of Cannon Drive near the Hurst ballpark complex is the only new development I can think of right now and those homes will cost you $300k+.
loves2read is right ... North Hurst is anything north of Hwy. 183/121/Airport Freeway (all the same highway, but known by 3 different names). It is pretty much bordered by Precinct Line Road and Norwood Road before you get to Hwy. 26/Grapevine Hwy. Areas North of Hwy. 26/Grapevine Hwy. are bordered by Precinct Line Road and just past Cheek-Sparger Road.
Typically, the more north you go, the more expensive (and newer) the homes.
N. Hurst is split into 3 different school districts. All of them are good districts, in my opinion, and usually rated "Recognized" or higher according to state ratings -- at least for the schools in the N. Hurst area. Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD ("H-E-B" ISD) encompasses the neighborhoods closest to Hwy. 183. Most neighborhoods north of Cannon Drive are in Birdville ISD and some of the homes on the "northeastern" edge go to Grapevine-Colleyville ISD. Shady Oaks Elementary, which is actually just south of 183 is where most of the H-E-B ISD kids go in the area before going to Bedford Jr. High, then ultimately L.D. Bell High School.
Hope this helps!
