Autism Services In Texas
Our family just moved to the Fort Worth area and I am unfamiliar with what state services/agencies are available to help with our 9 year old son. Anybody out there that could steer me in the right direction? Thanks!

I noticed that nobody was able to get back to you here. Check the Dallas board, there are several threads that discuss this subject.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.

I don't know what it is you are looking for, however I do know that through the public school system there are all sorts of assistance programs. Have you enrolled your child in a public school? If so they should have already started the process for your son upon enrollment.
If he's not in public school, you can still contact them for more information as to what's available to him.

a bit of help I hope
Mom to Five,
I am the mother of an autistic child and live in fort worth as well. I have found MANY resources which have been invaluable to me personally. I have the name and number of FWISD special education directors who handle the TAP the autism program for the school district. MHMR of Tarrant County is also a valuable resource. If you would like what information and numbers I have feel free to email me at LittleTinyPenguin@gmail.com and I will reply with the information and numbers.

I live in the Northwest ISD and we have a great ARD (IEP) here for our son.
There is already a thread on this maybe that is why you did not get help at first.
Here is the link:

Hope this helps.

Two Resources for you:
FEAT-NT call and speak with them, they have support groups, the local parents will point you in the right direction.
joinn the listserv on yahoo groups for Texas Autism Advocacy
send the parents an email , and the locals will chime in... best of luck

Our son has slight Austism, We live in Northlake on one acre land and our son goes to Justin. They have ARD meeting and work with him on speech and other things. We have been very pleased with the school. We also take him to UNT in Denton for group speech two times a week. We are going to try a new diet for him as well. Try taking away some foods that have Gluten in them and that makes a big differnece.
