Arrow which way does the wind blow?

We are interested in the smaller towns around the Ft Worth area, ie Benbrook, Burleson, Grandbury, Wheatherford, Azle, etc. but have been reading some very disturbing new regarding the cement factories in Midlothian. Which way do the dominant winds blow in that part of Texas. We really would like to be living as far away from direct pollution as possible. Any advice is very appreciated.

Winds (such as the north wind) are named for the direction they blow from so the north wind would blow from the north and a west wind would blow from the west (and to the east). An cup anemometer or wind vane, which are used to measure wind speed and indicate direction, point into the wind so they'd point north during a north wind.

The winds blow all over the place. It's mainly from the west, north, or south (usually the former 2).

Yep. Over the past weekend thru late Monday the winds were out of the south. Really high winds on Monday out of the south and warm temps. As Tuesday progressed they switched around to the north and the temps cooled down and the humidity went away. Really messed up the allergies. The winds could come out of every direction in a one week time period around here. Not many come from the east though. Every now and then a storm will roll thru from the east.
