We are relocating to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and are looking for a Christian high school that genuinely desires to be Christ-like and doesn't ostracize kids who are "spirit-filled." My son will be an incoming 9th grader and plays club soccer so it's important for the school to have a varsity soccer team. He is also very gifted in math/science and technology so that's also important. We can live anywhere in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area but my husband will be working a little south of downtown Dallas. Every larger Christian high school I've looked at seems to have bad reviews.

Thanks so much for any input you may have!

A little south of Downtown Dallas? You should move this thread to the Dallas forum, not Fort Worth as you have posted it.

I posted in both but we are looking in the Euless, Bedford, northern Arlington area and possibly Grand Prairie. Honestly, we really don't know until we get down there to have a look around. My husband could possibly work from home a few days so the commute won't be too bad.

Oakridge is a good school in N.Arlington but don't know about the varsity soccer.
Also there's Liberty Christian in Argyle, TX. Both those are on the west side of Dallas.

You are looking for something that doesn't exist, sorry! "Spirit- filled" schools are not known for athletics of any kind.

Thanks very much! I will look into those. I have been looking at Trinity in Addison and Temple near Bedford.

What is "Temple" near Bedford?

I don't know how "spirit filled" it is, but my hairdresser's kids are at Fort Worth Christian. It is a good fit for them according to her because they are athletic and smart. They briefly attended Colleyville Covenant Academy and she was not pleased with the academics. However, I have another friend whose older children attend CCA and they love it. Highly personal decision.

For the sake of your husband's commute you should check out Pantego Christian Academy. Grace Prep in Arlington does not appear to offer soccer. Another option would be Trinity Christian in Cedar Hill.

Personally I think your son should consider public school--
depending on the district he will get a stronger education and better soccer

I find it hard to believe that any school that caters to "spirit-filled" students could also provide an adequate math and science education.

Nonsense.....Both my wife and I went to schools the "cater to "spirit-filled" students" .....both of us graduated from Ivy League schools; my wife with an Engineering degree. My kids go to CCA in Colleyville. I have been very happy with school. The school every year sends a couple of kids to Ivy League schools.

After a lot of research on schools in NE Tarrant County, we decided CCA in Colleyville was the right fit. Academics are superb and there is a huge push to make it even better.

Just my $0.02...
