Southlake And Keller
ok we are looking into moving to fort worth and looking at the southlake and keller areas. what are your oppinions on these areas (shopping, restaurants, people, schools) and which one would you choose? and if there are any better areas around southlake and keller that you know of that would also be beneficial. were really looking more for a nice area rather than a cookie cutter new neighborhood where all of the houses look the same. we dont have anything against new houses as long as their tasteful. and in the price range of 200 to 350 thousand

Well you won't find much of anything under 400K in Southlake. You will find more in Keller and not so cookie cutter in the outer areas of Fort Worth, Hurst, North Richland Hills.
When we did our precursory search about two years ago, I know that I was focused on Southlake because it was the first one that really popped out with our requirements. In a year of research out of state and nine months of being here and driving around, you can find a lot of really nice neighborhoods in the area with our without land.
Depending upon your housing requirements (house size, land, conveniences etc) as well as your commute requirements, you might even look at Grapevine or Flower Mound??
This forum has a ton of information, so if you haven't already, you might go through the posts to get a good history. There is just a lot on the forum that might really help you and your family.

In that price range, if you're looking for non-cookie-cutter houses, check out Grapevine. You can get a NICE place out near the lake that will already have mature trees and a well-established neighborhood. The only drawback of Grapevine is that it is so popular (even in this housing market) that houses sell very quickly, so you'll need a good Realtor!

In my search I've looked at the same two areas. I've found both areas to be very nice. We have decided upon Keller primarily because of cost, but I've found lots of nice neighborhoods here. The parks are nice, I can get to Southlake shopping in 7 min. The elementary my son will go to is excellent. The Keller Pointe will meet our exercise & pool needs, as well as our neighborhood having pools, playgrounds, etc. There are also so many shopping and restraunts close. Anyways for what it was worth, we like it here!

I'll agree with everyone else has said. Southlake is out of your price range. Central Keller has less "cookie cutter neighborhoods". Grapevine will have some smaller older houses in that price range. most of Colleyville will be out of your range but there are some neat older neighborhoods with great lots that might run int the 300's.
We live in Keller and really like it, it's close to all the shopping/resturants you could need and has good schools and parks etc...and good community activites. Some tract housing but also some custom neighborhoods with larger lots.
North Richland hills is nice and convienient. We found smaller lots there though (in your price range)
Good luck.

Actually, the 200-350k houses in Grapevine are not "smaller, older". These will be the big, pretty houses near the lake. Yes, some of them are older, but they are mostly very well-kept and updated, and a lot have pools.

run a search for those two towns and you will pull up a year's worth of conversations
you will get many different points of view from new comers and people who are long time residents
