Home Town--small lots w/alleys for trash pickup and garage entrances--narrow streets as well with curves--designed that way because it was supposed to approximate the feel of "small town Americana" to go along with the style of homes--
the problem is that lots in small town Americana were about twice as large as these---
people really can eavesdrop on their neighbors without too much trouble--
little privacy in your back yard
and driving on the street is dangerous--too many people park cars in front of houses because there is no driveway to pull in off the street when visiting--it is easy to have kids hidden behind cars and they can become a traffic liability--

it makes me nervous every time I drive through there---
I think it is diffcult to find your way around and some blocks can be pretty long so it is not a fast neighborhood to leave...

Do you think it's a friendly community or does it feel too crowded and congested for friendly neighbors? Any other areas close by that may be more desirable and still in the north part of NRH?

lots of young families. I know people who live there and LOVE it. We looked at it but as Loves2 statedthe lots are SMALL and the houses are very close together. Also having moved from NOVA it looked EXACTLY like our old neighborhood, and I wanted a change, not to mention an ALL brick house.

very safe, low crime, good schools, close to lots of amenities etc...(I believe HOA includes NRH2O the water park)

I'd say it's a personal taste thing, either you like it or you don't.

I am in upstate New York right now (Albany), originally from Long Island. The wife & I are looking to move to the FTW area in the next year or less (hopefully). It sounds like NRH is a good decent place to live. Are there any nice rentals in that area (we can afford the more affluent prices as we have two incomes & no children)....any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. No more snow for us. Thank you to all.

Lots of rentals in NRH and HEB. I'd not limit yourself to NRH and look at Hurst, Bedford and Arlington as well. You'll be amazed at how far your dollars go in these communities.

The Venue at Hometown is perfect for you. Check it out! And no, I'm not affiliated with them in any way. I just live a couple of blocks from there.

Welcome to Venue at Home Town!

Below are some pics I took of the place awhile back.

The first floor of the entire complex is retail and shopping. The top two floors are residential. There are tons of amenities within walking distance such as a Signature Kroger, Mongolian Grill, Starbucks, Library, Chipotle, Kohls, Red Hot & Blue, Starbucks, and about 100 other restaurants/services within two to five minutes of walking distance. Many people from out of state in more urban areas have moved there. The Signature Kroger is excellent. There is a water park right next door as well.

Geeze, look at the price of those rentals! Remind me again by I own? I can't see a better or more cost effective way to get to know NE Tarrant County. For a minute I thought that was downtown Grapevine...
