Default Where should we move to in the Ft Worth area

We have the opportunity to move to Texas but where do we go? My husband works for the Federal Prison system so we have a couple choices. First is Ft Worth Federal Prison located at 3150 Horton Rd on mapquest it says that address falls in a city called Forest Hill. The next one is Carswell Prison located on the naval air base. We are definetely wanting excellent schools. But our price is only around 100 - 125,000 and We need the commute to be no more than 20 - 25 mins. So with this information can anyone suggest some cities or school districts.

i googled the first prison and mapped from where i live to there and returned 31 minutes. that is pretty accurate unless he goes from 9 to 5, that would be another story. but he will probably start work at 6 am or 2 pm or 10 pm (i'm guessing) then this commute is not bad.

Now, I live at Presidio Village. The community is built by History Maker Homes. The school district is Northwest ISD. It is a very good district and brand new schools are being built to accomodate the growing population. I also have I35W less than 2 minutes away (taking my sweet time of course) or in a hurry I could be there in a minute. The exit would be Heritage Trace Parkway. Keller is across the bridge. The home i got was a 2650 sq ft (two story) on a 50x110 lot. My purchase price was 141000. The model start at 101 to 165. their site is historymaker.com if you want to check it out. I will also suggest Northwest ISD for the schools. good luck. if you do decide on visiting the sales office, let me know for the current home owners would get a referral bonus. i could sure use every penny too.

by the way, i have met most of my neighbors and no one has complaints about the builder. all homes are built the same as dr horton and centex which are next to us. theirs are a little pricier too. any claim that i have made so far has been taken care off and may i add they were minor ones too.

Thanks rcrdoeve. He would work either at 6 or 7:30 am. Thanks for the time frame and the neighborhood info. I will be there next week to check every area out. I have read up on the school districts I wanted either Northwest or Keller but I'm not sure if the commute is a problem for those schools vs. his work.

my best advice is for him to time himself on an actual practice run. i did that and it worked for me. best of luck and welcome to texas (i'm florida originally).

I used to work for the BOP. Keller is a LONG way to both of those institutions. For Carswell, look at homes in Lake Worth or Azle. You'll find things in your price range and within that commute.

For the one in Fort Worth, avoid Forest Hill and look in the SW part of Fort Worth or in Burleson.

Default Burelson Area New Home

Burleson Schools~ next to brand new elementary school opening next year. Just south on I35W to hwy 1187 there is a community that has Burleson schools but no city tax. This is about 10 min. and NO TRAFFIC to the prison in Forest Hill, but much better schools. It sits on the border of Burleson and Fort Worth. I am not sure where you are coming from, but here we have no state income tax and some people are shocked by the property taxes. They average about 3.3% annually in the Fort Worth area, but in this community with no city tax it is only 2.23% and they are very affordable starting in the 80's. save thousands a year, Vista Oaks Good Luck Whens the move? I am not an agent, but let me know if I can help!

I have lived in the Ft Worth area since 1976 so I do know the area very well...Your best best would be Arlington south west area...There are many houses in the area in your price range...My advice would be to search in the 76016 and 76017 area..The schools are very nice and the area is convenient to I-20 and an easy commute to just about anywhere in the south area of Ft Worth..You will be about 10 minutes from Forest Hill and about 25 minutes from Carswell area ...when traffic is moving...
You do not want to live in Forest Hill I can tell you...
