Default Possible Relocation to Fort Worth Area

I may be accepting a position with a company located in north Ft. Worth (4700 block of Mercantile Drive North), and would like to be situated within a 5-to-10 (five-ten) miles distance, to ease commuting time. The firm is located near the junction with Meachem Blvd., with the NE Loop 820 Highway to the north, bordered on the west by 35 West (North Freeway).

I would require either a condo/apartment or houseshare situation (one bedroom and a bath), with the monthly rental amount ranging between $400 to $500 maximum, with utilities included. I'd like something fairly close to amenities, eg. grocery shops, retail shops, restaurants, etc., but in a good neighbourhood. Any help in pointing me in the right direction as far as names of recommended areas/neighbourhoods, would be greatly appreciated. Also the areas to avoid would be helpful as well, eg. names of apartment complexes that don't have a savoury reputation! Thank you

Connkid

There's been lots of building going on off 820 and Beach street and a bit further north off 35 and Western Center Blvd. Restaurants, fast food, and some other things, with a Walmart further north on Beach. I don't know about other grocery places though as I haven't been that way lately. There are all kinds of places to live just north of 820 with the area mainly being known as Fossil Creek that might suit your needs and some just a bit east of beach as well.

you want to be north of 820 for the most part in that area of FTW--southof the loop is Haltom City--not that attractive

you could also be looking in Keller or NRHills--or Azle to the west but don't know about apts there---

do a google for Western Center blvd fort worth and when the map comes up search for apartments
you get lots of hits in area --there are reviews tied to some apartment search sites that you can read
don't know about prices but prices in that area are probably going to be at or above your price point for something fairly new--probably 650-700 plus utilities

Park·Vista Town Homes :: Our Community (http://www.parkvistatownhomes.com/Community.html - broken link)
this is in Wautaga--town east toward 377--
the phrase TAX-CREDIT apt home means that there are probably some section 8 rentals in there...and all apartments look like family sized ones

so you need to be aware of the fact that some apartment complexes in that area could rent to section 8 applicants if that matters to you

yeah the area right around there isn't that great Haltom City, Watauga etc...

The fossil creek area is your best bet for being close etc...off of western center blvd. as loves2 stated. That area is growing and has lots of chain resturants etc...
Apts and shopping close and your office pretty close.
Don't know about price though.

(I noticed quite alot of registered sex offenders in that area though...just fyi)

Default Possible Relocation to Fort Worth Area

Thank you for the replies to my question's regarding possible relocation to the northern area of Fort Worth. It's always helpful to get an insight into an area prior to moving, as moving is not a fun chore to begin with, coupled with the added challenge of trying to get your bearings in a new locale, can be daunting! From the response's, it would be safe to assume that one should concentrate on housing accommodation north of the 820 Highway?

Thank you again for the tips. Everyone's comments were helpful and appreciated!

I would think there are registered sex offenders there because there are not that many schools and it is more apartment than SFH set up

^ probably right.

I would look N of 820. there are pleanty of nice areas that wont be a bad commute. My husband works off of Meachem and we live up in Keller. His commute is 20-30 unless there is an accident on 820 or 35. But you can take various roads in and out of there to avoid the probelms.
