I have a 33 year old truck that I have taken to Firestone for repairs in the past, but frankly, their work is poor. I almost always had to go back a second or a third time because they did not "get it right." I am not keen to take it to Firestone anymore for this reason, and Westerly, another garage I previously patronised has gone out of business after many long years.

Someone recommended two garages in the 76110 zip, but neither one of them works on a vehicle as old as mine. Who do you recommend in the 76110, 76109, or 76107 zips that could a fuel system cleaning, replace the idle air control valve, and do a tune up on a vehicle this old? I want reliable, responsible, GOOD mechanics. Thanks in advance.

Default Auto help

J&N Auto in 76110 is my go-to place, really great people who have solved problems the dealers can't fix.

Thanks, I heard good things about them and belled them last week. They will not work on a motor as old as mine. Also tried Hammons, and it was the same situation. No one wants to work on really old motors.

Try community colleges with automotive programs.

Why would you suggest this? Would not community colleges have mostly young folks learning how to work on newer model automobiles? Mine is 33 years old. Most places I take it do not have techs old enough to remember doing any sort of maintenance on a motor this old.

Phinney - I like old pickups. My senior was a 63 Chevy SO used to teach me how to set the timing with whiteout.
Talk to the program directors. Talk to the high school instructors. Be a bit nice! Sugar - vinegar! KnD in Haslet may give you straight answers 817 439 4495.
