I 'm not especifically interested in Grapevine. We would like to stay in the FW area and move to a town where the homes don't look alike and are one on top of each other and that is what we saw in the Rendon area, but we would also want a town with fun stuff to do for the who family and just the two of us at times. Like I said before, my family is really into soccer , so we are also looking into that. I also like the Keller area. Having lived here in the Chicago south suburbs for over 20 years, and having so much to do all year in the Chicago area, I don't think that I could live in an area where there is nothing is going on even during the Holidays.

I don't see where ALL the houses look alike in Grapevine? maybe in one or two newer neighborhoods but there are PLENTY of original homes.

The neighborhood around the lake and park. The downtown area has alot of victorian era homes etc...
Since it has a "real downtown" it is a town and not just a suburb.

YOu would probably like Lakewood and Lake Highlands over near downtown Dallas. Lakewood has a real sense of community etc...
(and closer to Garland)

For over on this side of the metroplex... Keller has it's share of "tract homes" esp in neighborhoods under 300k. so if you don't like the look of Grapevine neighborhoods you probably won't care for Keller much either.

It does have alot to offer in the recreation catagory and lots of avail soccer clubs indoor for winter etc...(as I mentioned priviously)

Futher west is Weatherford...a real nice smaller town but still large enough for activites etc...

Flowermound and Highland village area also might have what you are looking for as well. The other indoor soccer complex is in Flowermound I believe.

ALSO..Denton may be worth you time to check out. It's a college town and has a great music scene and a neat historic downtown area etc...
you could probably get a very good sized lot up there as well.

I did not mean to say that Grapevine has homes that look alike. I still need to look at the area and also at Keller. I don't want to go close the Dallas or Garland. What I said is that I don't want to meove to an area like that . Initially I was looking into Catholic schools as mu children got to one here, but I noticed that the tuiton is almost double than here, but than again , here you have catholic schools all over. I will also look into the school systems for my children. I once visited the down town area of Grapevine and I liked it, but I will also visit Keller and the other towns.

Try Aledo, for country atmosphere, great schools, great soccer, but pretty far from Dallas. Most houses on an acre or more and a real community atmosphere. It is about 10 minutes from Weatherford and 20-25 minutes from downtown Fort Worth.

[quote=vinmar4;3908476]I would like to know if there is anybody that knows anything at all about the Rendon area. I know that they still have some homes with land and the prices are not bad at all. Please help!!

I live in Rendon. Mansfield is not the only district however. I am 22 years old. When I was in school, I attended the Everman School district. It is about 5 minutes south of Rendon. It is a very good district and I recommend it. If you decide to move there, there are way more things to do. The "hole in the wall" restaurants are not the only thing there. I stay on Stephenson Levy Rd off of 1187 and Rendon Rd. If you travel south on Rendon, the street turns into Forest Hill. You will be in Everman. There are many nice restaraunts, great parks, and friendly people. I think you will love it.
