Straight is...there is no set anything on any of your topics, it all depends on all sorts of things.
Jobs--depends on what field you mean and what kind of money you want to make. Economy can be fine or not depending on where you are coming from and what kind of lifestyle you want to live. Housing also depends on the same things. Weather is Texas weather-hard to describe......it often changes from day to day and we have it all here, though it's safe to say we don't have long hard winters compared to the northern states. There's been many a day we've gone through several types of weather...from sunny to sever storms/tornadoes, from 80 degrees to 30 degrees and so on. |

How did you decide on Mansfield? Just curious.
It's growing a lot, most parts of Mansfield are very nice. Lots of new construction residential and commercial. Schools are pretty good. Most homes are priced in the high 100s to mid 300s and goes up to the over a mil. and a handful over 2 mil. Naima |

nsummer:
We are ministers and feel that is where we are being led. Most likely within the next few months. We are obviously going to need a place to live and I am trying to get as much info about Mansfield as I can so we can begin to prepare for the transition. We aren't necessarily looking for a new build, but don't want a run down shack either. No golf courses, or country clubs, just a nice place that has good schools and I can finish raising my kids in a decent area. |

do a search on this forum and on the dallas one--there is plenty of info to read through that will give you good idea of what to expect there
someone on Dallas was just asking about Mansfield keeps from re-inventing the wheel-- major thing is to find your church--you don't want to be driving 30 miles each way |

I hope I'm not to late to help you. Mansfield is a wonderful place to live. My mother has lived here for 38 of her 42 years. It has just about everything you need in a close vicinity, if you live on the 287 side of Mansfield (the 360 sied hasn't developed much yet but it surely will).
The schools are excellent, reminds me of Starbucks kinda because we litteraly have one on every corner. Currently some of the schools are crowded but that is from all of the growth we have had recently, but not to worry the B.E. has plans to build several new schools. And to your housing issue, Country Meadows is a nice neighborhood, and by that I mean a suburb, and has very nice, some large, affordable houses. Economy is great with all of the growth we have had. Weather, WOW any where else I could answer that question but not DFW, one day it may be snowing the next it will be in the 90's, (i.e. last April it snowed!), I guess in genereal Texas has wacky weather but it changes day to day. Well if you have any questions fell free to ask. Oh and we have several parks (which are now all connected to each other), an very nice Library, and an Activities Center (adjacent to the library). |

I LOVE living in Mansfield. One of the reasons we moved here was because of the schools. The school my kids go to has an exemplary rating which is the highest a school can receive. Another reason was when we first moved here Mansfield still kinda had that small town feel but was still within about 10 minutes from just about any type of business you were looking for if you traveled up Cooper St towards Arlington. However, Mansfield has grown soooo much in the nine years we've been here that you don't even really have to bother going up Cooper St anymore. We have several nice restaurants, a big movie theater, a water park that just opened this summer and plenty of shopping with more places being built all the time. I am really glad we moved here. I love it!
Oh yeah, and we have a saying here in Texas about the weather. It goes "if you don't like the weather in Texas, wait five minutes and it will change". That is soooo true! I have seen huge temperature changes in one day and where it will be freezing cold and snowing one week and hot the next. It is truly crazy. |
