Moving to Fort Worth Apartment Living Please Help
Hi Everyone,
I need to relocate to Fort Worth for a new job; this is my first time in Texas. The company is located near South East Loop 820 (Forest Hill). I am looking for an apartment in safe and nice neighborhood. My price budget is $500-$650 for one bedroom.
Thanks for the infomation

Deja-vu
You are in the same position I was in about a month ago.
I posted on here a while ago asking for advice on moving to Arlington from Omaha on a very limited budget about the same as yours $500-600. I asked how was the community, places to watch out for, crime stats and so forth. I got some good feedback and so I thought that I would go ahead and help out anyone else. I used apartmentguide.com to find the complexes that had what I was looking for, then cross-referenced them with apartmentratings.com. Also, if you have it narrowed down to specific communities (both Dallas and Ft. Worth have gobbled up multiple towns/cities) the local government/PD will have websites with crime stats and property information.
I found some amazing information regarding apartments in Arlington.
http://www.arlingtontx.gov/codecompliance/pdf/apiscores.pdf
http://www.arlingtontx.gov/codecompliance/pdf/apiscores_checklist.pdf
These are two extremely valuable links for evaluating apartment properties in Arlington, TX. They basically go in and inspect the properties and give it a rating from 100 on down based on the checklist. The lowest score I found was a NEGATIVE -44!! The place I am now renting scored a 95.0.
Hope this helps and let me know if you need more
Cheers,
BigCanada

First of all, don't live in Forest Hill - it is considered a bad area of town. The Hulen area would be alright, which is sw Fort Worth, or south Arlington would be alright as well...both are nearby. stay away from east fort worth as well...a lot of crime there. I don't have any names of apartments since I haven't lived in those areas or in an apartment in a long time. From what I hear, you will probably need to pay on the upper end of your price range for a good, safe apartment.
You might be able to contact a few that have availability for when you are moving. I know of people who moved here w/o a place to stay, and found an apartment when they got here.
Good luck, and welcome to Ft Worth!!!

Sure...I now live at Arlington Oaks located on 1111 Honeysuckle Way, Arlington, TX 76011. It is right in the middle between Rangers Stadium, the new Cowboys Stadium, Six Flags over Texas, Hurricane Harbor, and Wet n' Wild. So far I love my apartment, the neighbors are quiet and friendly, the management seems competent, the neighborhood is so far so good, plus there are lots of great places to eat and hang out. There is construction around but I have yet to hear it even standing outside, and the complex is tucked away on a sidestreet which you could not find unless you were looking for it. I am very happy with the amount of space and amenities provided for the rent. Only wish it came with a microwave but I have an extra one that I am picking up this week. I recommend this place if you are looking in this area. Good luck and let me know if you need more info
Cheers,

I would say you would need be at $650-$725
Depending who your employer is they be on a properties preferred employers list.
Use a apartment locator.
It will save you time.
60 days out is a good time to start for a apartment.

tl215, AV8 is right...you either want to be in Arlington, or you could go to Southwest Fort Worth in 76132. The closer to Bryant Irvin the better, generally speaking. I wouldn't be anywhere East of Hulen actually. The other good option would be downtown, but that's likely out of your price range. Probably $800 per month there.

Why because its a predominately African American suburb. Get a grip there is nothing wrong with Forest Hill. Some you people are so bias on here.
