Need opinions on Roanoke...
I had posted on Dallas forum, but they said to try this one since it's Tarrant Co. We have seen some houses we like there (moving from ATL in 2 weeks)...is it a nice community? Good schools? Our commutes would be to Denton and DFW Airport area. Is shopping convenient??

I have a good friend whose address is technically Roanoke, though it had been Keller many years ago. Her kids went through the Keller district and they have some really good schools. I'd guess that most addresses would actually go to Northwest ISD, which overall seems to be have a good reputation. So, it could be either one.
It would depend on where it is you are looking, but I imagine the commute to Denton would be easy enough going straight up 35 or 377, depending or times. Taking 114 will be more traffic clogged but it's a straight shot pretty much to the airport, even with the red lights they have.

yes--they are that close around 114, 1709 and 377 -I 35 area
Roanoke houses get approval from Keller city planning/inspectors--at least in certain areas
Google map makes it seem like Roanoke is west of 377--but it is not
there is area that is across to the east and just north of 1709
look for Ravenwood Dr--that has Keller mailing address and Keller ISD but is in Roanoak--we almost bought lot there couple of years ago--
it goes south of there and some to the east as well...

The cities really don't have a clear cut line to show division. There are some streets where one house is one city and the house next door is another city.
Roanoke is spread out and is actually in Denton County, but many addresses are in Tarrant county that have the Roanoke designation. I wish I could remember why they had to change their mailing address all those years ago, but I just don't remember. haha Sorry.
And it does go both east and west of 377 and north and south of 114 as well.

roanoke
We chose roanoke last summer after looking for over a month all over dallas/ft. worth! We love it out here. The Northwest ISD is rated "recognized" district-wide. So very good schools. IT's very convenient to shopping and medical, etc. Thankfully, someone at my husband's office had told us to stay somewhere close to 114 for traffic commute and it was great advice! my husband drives to Dallas every day from here and the commute is AWESOME!!!! Moving from the Austin area, we were used to horrendous traffic in every direction there!
The thing that's wonderful about Roanoke is it's still got the country feel, but it's not---you have lots of local shopping and Southlake is 8 minutes away (where i do all my shopping and doctors, etc.). You're 15 minutes max from DFW Airport. Dallas is just right after that. So it's really cool to get anywhere in the metroplex. My daughter attends UNT in Denton and it takes her 12 to 15 minutes to get there!!
We are actually in City of Ft. Worth, Denton County, but a Roanoke mailing address. Our subdivision is right there on the line for some reason. So some is Tarrant and some Denton (we liked the Denton County for tax purposes, which by the way school taxes are less out here also).
Hope this is helpful! There's some nice neighborhoods out there that are newer: Chadwick Farms, Seventeen Lakes (ours), Briarwyk (Meritage Homes).

Roanoak is a nice little town and has a bit of a "wee downtown area" as well. Good schools, (both NW ISD and KELLER ISD) low crime (they do have have thier own Police and work with Keller PD )
I'd also look in Trophy club (NW ISD) it's right off 114. We really liked the look and feel of it hills and trees etc...

roanoke, Tx area
I am reading good things about the northwest independent school district north of fort worth and was wondering what the neighborhoods were like in that area. I just happened to look at the Roanoke area, but would like feedback. We are in Louisiana currently and are getting frustrated with the state of the schools here, and are looking into the best school districts in te DFW area. I have family around there as well.
