Default Looking to move to Burleson..Have Questions

Good Morning Y'all,
We have recently moved to Tyler from No. Nevada. I researched for 6 months before we came down here, and I have found that the Tyler area was not represented in a completely 'truthful' manner, especially their employment market. We are now, feeling like we need to get closer to the bigger cities (but not in them) in order to sustain our way of life.
I am looking at the Burleson area. I like the fact that the population is under 100,000, I like the proximity to the DFW metro areas, it seems that the Blue collar job market is much more open than in East Texas.
My husband has 20 years in construction trucking (end dumps, belly dumps etc and operating heavy equipment), I have 20 years experience overcoming the challenges of a new work environment, getting bored after the challenge is over, then finding a new challenge.

Can y'all give me some pros and cons about Burleson - specifically -
a. the high school
b. the rental market,
c. proximity of stores and shopping from neighborhoods
d. availability of activities other than bowling, skating and movie theaters.

Our son races motocross and I know there are a ton of tracks around the DFW area. He also like to skateboard. My daughter is very involved in JRROTC and prefers to be back in an Air Force program (one of the reasons we are looking at Burleson) and she is also getting into photography.

What are the winters like? One of the reasons we left No Nevada, besides their abhorrent education system, is that we were tired of 13-24 degrees for 4 months and tired of the snow that went along with it.

We prefer to NOT live anywhere where there is an HOA. I don't believe in their Nazi-esque hold they can have over your lives. When we get ready to buy, are their properties available, I guess they would be in older neighborhoods, that are not under the rule of an HOA??? Are the newer neighborhoods under HOA rule?

Please give me all the info I can handle. We are not happy with the schools here in Tyler, we are not happy with the job market, and will probably be moving in the next 30 days.

Thanks Y'all and have a great day
